Any programs out there to assist in transcribing?

I find myself doing a lot more transcriptions for people these days and I would really like something that can slow down bass lines, maybe isolate, or heavily EQ the bass track up, just to generally make my life easier. I knew a buddy who owned a tascam guitar trainer years ago but he said it was just awful and didn't help much, I am wondering if there is a computer program that can do these things.

I don't know if this is the right forum, but I didn't know where else to put it.

I use Transcribe. It can slow it way down without losing pitch and has an EQ to help filter stuff.

Adjusts speed while keeping pitch the same...sometimes doubling the pitch helps. Lots of filters to pull the bass line out of the mix. Lots of features that help, etc.

I use Ableton Live. Pitch and time stretch without artifacts up to a major third either direction. Easy to make loops of individual sections. Plus I can transcribe and duplicate drum and guitar tracks, creating a backing track for me to practice/jam over.

Yes, Audacity will slow down and not change pitch, and there are dozens of plugins that do the same. I do like Ableton live a lot. It's a snap.

You're still left with trying to decide what's the bass, keyboard, bass drum, or some produced track mixed in.

Now if your interested in isolating just a bass track take a look at now Sony Spectra Layers:

There are video's on youtube. It takes into account harmonics to help isolate different instruments. i.e. the Bass guitar is going to have different harmonics than a keyboard (unless the keyboard is playing a sampled bass part) Pricey but looks to do amazing things.

Roland also has R-mix which is cheaper but does not use harmonic analysis.

It's not going to work as good, but still very amazing.

More and more of these kinds of programs are hitting the market. Expect more.

I use Transcribe! by Seventh String. It's a paid program, now selling for $39USD. I bought it 4 years ago, and I'm still getting the latest updates.

The shuttling and looping features are very helpful too in learning tricky passages, or in practicing with a section of a song.
