Any suggestions for this mix?

Hey all,

If you wouldn't mind please take a listen to this recording I did with my band. Mixed the hell out of it and am pretty happy with it to this point. Not sure what else to do with it. I think the vocals are a bit loud so I'll take them back a bit. Any other suggestions?

These are things that could be fixed without intensive engineering skills this all excludes drums

overall
Levels drums and vocals are ok but the instruments are too low bring those up a bit

MONO (try to make the instrument tracks stereo)

track too thin
Your using a non tube amp or distortion (or both) the solution is an obvious one lol obtain a tube amp if its not in your disposal buy a distortion pedal with a tube in it, it does wonders!

if it was recorded with a tube type of signal, The tracks on your mix have may only have 1 track running or not enough (if you want GIRTH on your tracks try dubbing them or layering the same guitar track a few times, and eq them differently)

Not enough bottom end (eq each track differently)



The Bass and the kick are in the same frequency span so the bass is destroying the kick. (try to eq the bass differently, if you have access to the kick try to eq that too instead if you like your bass tone)

The drums cymbals are a bit too aggressive Eq it differently.

For that you might want to redo the bass altogether. A bid round sound is what you want rather than punchy and compression can only do so much.

EQ!!! it really really depends if your willing to change your tone if your not. redo the bass altogether. but try to eq them differently in some cases make the kick at a higher freq than the bass, or vise versa.
