Anybody actually like Warwick necks?

,,,I have never encountered a warwick , the neck on which actually felt finished.
They always seemed to have forgotten to complete the neck shaping before shipping...
I have met people who likesd those necks however.

thin necks make my hands cramp

Owie. Memories of the Thumb 4 and 5 a few years back give me a slight ache thinking about it.

Nope. Thousands of Warwick players and none of us like the necks :eyebrow:

I dunno, they and their customer base seems to have changed a lot from the beginning to now. Pro session men and fusion gurus used to dominate the ads, now have been replaced by modern rock and metal players.

The Streamer I played in the mid 90's had maple wings, maple neck, and probably a wenge fingerboard with MEC PJ and active electronics. It had a wonderful thin neck, perfect balance, very resonant, and very light. If they still made 'em exactly like that, I'd be in line to get one.

The Thumb 4 and 5 were almost complete opposites from the old Streamer I played. Heavy, not much sustain, poor balance, and a very thick neck. The extra length their bridge adds to the fulcrum, short horn, and dense neck material wasn't gonna allow me to place the bass in my usual 45 degree area.

The macho attitude that I have heard from some Warwick kids was almost amusing. Basses need to be a workout, essentially. I don't think I'll start taking ergonomic advice from kids hanging a bass low to the point where that 2nd octave is unplayable.

When I got my corvette it was alot chunkier than any of my other basses and took just a little while to get used to but felt fantastic. The extra girth just felt amazing. Now that my hands have "stretched" a bit from playing I'm finding my corvette to be a bit uncomfortable and am looking at picking up a warwick 5.

The streamers have been pretty fantastic, and the vettes not bad at all. However there is not a single thing about the thumbs which I like. Tone, shape, balance, necks, just any of it is very uncomfortable and odd imho.
