I don’t know where you live, but both of your amplifiers are made in China. Do you have access to a Gallien Krueger or older Peavey amp, made in the US? Maybe there’s something different or particular to the power supplies or grounding of the Chinese units.

I've tried US amps and trust me... I would love to get away from China made instruments and someday I will!! I would rather play US made.

Try your amp with that bass somewhere other than your house.

And then try that bass through some amps at a store. If the noise is gone, get a better amp

I will eventually. I'm pulling a lot of overtime at my job to get better gear .. among other things.

Budget bass player here! I have an issue that I hope someone can help with. There is an intermittent high pitch "whistling" noise in my amp when I play certain basses through it and I don't know where it's coming from or how to stop it
It doesn't seem to happen with my Ibanez SR300EB but it does with my Fender P Bass. The bass is properly grounded, I've tried XHum adapters, I tried three prong to two prong adapters, different instrument cables... And nothing seems to work. Can anyone help or have the same issue?

I will keep you all posted, I just bought a DI box to see if that will work. I will let you know!

Well, I got a DI Box yesterday and it seemed to take care of 98% of the squealing. So I guess if you have that problem get a DI Box.

On of the functions of DI is to provide isolation between the onstage amp and the mixing board. In passive DIs, the transformer is mainly there for impedance change and signal reduction, but it also acts as an isolation transformer when the ground is lifted.

Active DIs may lack transformers, but they usually offer ground lifts to provide some isolation.

Well, it's doing great for what I have it for. I don't have to decrease the treble as much.

False conclusion… in YOUR particular case, with your particular amps, it may have helped, but this is not a universal solution for sure.

Well, I really wasn't sure about it as I said in my statement "I guess if you have that problem." I know it perhaps only masks the situation. When I go home today I'm going to check my pickup and wiring harness for errors. I want to be sure to get the problem fixed and avoid further difficulties.

Just purchased GZR Butler EMG pickup system. It might be the unshielded pickup I'm using. I'll try these since they're shielded coaxial and see if that solves it.

I'm happy to report the horrible sound is gone!! My ears are comforted. I now have a EMG Geezer Butler pickup, shielded the bridge ground under the bridge wire with copper tape, and copper shielded the whole underside of the bridge.... Quiet!
