Budget bass player here! I have an issue that I hope someone can help with. There is an intermittent high pitch "whistling" noise in my amp when I play certain basses through it and I don't know where it's coming from or how to stop it
It doesn't seem to happen with my Ibanez SR300EB but it does with my Fender P Bass. The bass is properly grounded, I've tried XHum adapters, I tried three prong to two prong adapters, different instrument cables... And nothing seems to work. Can anyone help or have the same issue?

What make/model of amp? It sounds like more of an instrument problem.

Try the amps in a different part of your house/apartment.

when you say the bass is "properly grounded", what do you mean?
is it shielded? is that shield tied to ground?
it sounds like your P might be acting like an antenna and picking up interference. i am making this statement since your Ibanez is not doing the same thing. It's possible that the Ibanez has better shielding and is shunting those induced signals to ground.
also, does the noise change as you move? when you hear the noise, if you rotate 90 degrees does the noise go away? change? get worse?
does dialing the treble down reduce the noise? is the noise in the amp with nothing plugged into it?

I don’t know where you live, but both of your amplifiers are made in China. Do you have access to a Gallien Krueger or older Peavey amp, made in the US? Maybe there’s something different or particular to the power supplies or grounding of the Chinese units.

No, it doesn't sound odd at all. I know the weird galloping noise that a phone makes with an amp. It's not that. Sometimes I'll have my phone sitting on top of the amp and it won't make that noise.
