At the price level of those bases, your results will varry from bass to bass. The best Squires will likely be better than the middle to lower MIM Fenders, th best MIM Fenders will out shine the middle to lower Squires.

The best bet for lower priced guitars and basses, to me at least, is to play all the ones in your price range that you can actually get your hands on. Buy the one that feels the best.
