Anybody still having issues with EB Cobalt Flats breaking?

Alright! I do believe I've found the perfect strings for this bass!

I strung them up like the instructions said (as weird as it felt) and went really slowly on the winding once there was any real tension on the strings. I was nervously waiting to hear and feel a snap, but it didn't come. Whew!

Maybe it's just because they're new, but I'm hearing more texture than I was with the Sadowsky flats I took off this bass. I'm glad because those Sad Flats are going right on another bass I have coming later this week and I know they work well for the pickups on that bass.

Now I'm just hoping that the stickiness I feel on the strings will go away with time and playing.

I used isopropyl alcohol to clean them off. Works like a charm.

I put a fresh set on my customer jazz bass yesterday, without follow EB suggest install guide, no breaking just great sounding ！！！！！

For sure my favorite strings so far, but I just had a g string break when installing. Happened about an inch into the tuner end silk. If there was one thing I would change about these strings it would be to beef up the tuner end because they all (even the low B) seem a bit thin up there and I'm always worried that one is going to pop when I put them on.

Yeah, here we are, four years gone by - and I'm waking this slumbering thread because I just had a D string break. First bass string I've broken in decades, and all I was doing was tuning.

I've had this set (.045-.100) on for a few months. I wanted to tweak the setup on this bass, and I slack the strings while I'm adjusting things (especially the truss rod). I was tuning up after adjusting the action and POP! the string went flying across the room leaving a few turns on the tuning post. Grr.

Fortunately, I had a fresh set of strings on hand - but they were a different kind, so more setup work than I had planned for. I don't know whether to be mad at myself for messing around with the bass the day before a gig, or glad it broke at home, not on stage.

It's a shame, I liked the way they sounded, and they seemed like they would mellow nicely and sound good for a long time. But a broken string doesn't sound like anything. I don't think I'll be buying another set of these.

Anyone need an E, A, and G string (cut for 34" scale 2+2 headstock, G string probably won't work on an FSO) plus an unused B (.130)? Send me a PM, I'll put 'em in the mail to you.

Emial EB customer service asking for replacement. Those snap D and G string report raise again from year 2023.
