Anybody tried Olympia flatwounds?

Looking for information but very little online about these, at half the price of most flats i am tempted

First I've heard of them. Apparently Korean made. I've never played or heard of an Asian made string that wasn't cheap crap. Not that there's anything wrong with Asian made products but my experience with the strings hasn't been positive.

They are indeed crap! Get some fenders or ghs instead, they are really cheap.

Thanks, I was going to go a gauge heavier on my Ernie ball flats (currently group iv) and was wondering about these, I think I will spend the extra and go with the EB's instead

Bumping this old thread.

I've just put a 45 - 100 gauge set of Olympia flats on my P Bass. They are not bad for £16. They are substantially nicer than Rotosound Swing Bass flats and cost less!!

Admittedly they are unevenly voiced, with a bright zingy G through to a dull thumpy E. The E also has a slightly undulating texture but is pretty smooth. I think these will break in and all become thumpy over time.

They have a reasonable tension, but less than Rotosounds or La Bellas. I've had most of the big flatwounds on my basses and these are adequate 'cooking' flats.

I have these strings in sq jazz 40th, at first everything was ok. now they are about 4-5 months old and the E string died. It is strange that G is unnaturally voiced. I don't use this guitar very often, but I need to change these wires.

Six months on mine have done the same. Thump city.
