Anybody won a Gear Giveaway?

2009 I entered a Sam Ash contest via Facebook. I was not the "grand" prize winner, but I got 2 tickets to see Heaven & Hell (RJDio, Tony I, Geezer, Vinny) at the Greek in LA. Also included were a tour T-shirt, a pair of H&H drumsticks, all of the RJD Sabbath stuff on vinyl, a Zoom H2N audio recorder and 2 backstage meet & greet passes. I have a photo with Tony Iommi and Brian May (they're buddies and Brian happened to be at the show), but the one with RJD, Vinny and Geezer didn't turn out.

When I was 13 I won a Mars Music bass competition. It was for bassists 13-18 only, but anyway I won a Washburn Bass, amp, cables, strap... yada yada. I actually still have the amp, which is still a perfectly fine amp.

Same year (1998), Guitar Center had a raffle where the first prize was a custom Flexdex Warped Tour Longboard (they had just recently come out). I was a skater and listened to punk rock so this was an awesome win. Never skated on it. Still have it. It's still cool.

In 2006 the Trans-Siberian Orchestra had a YouTube competition where all instruments could enter and they'd pick the best versions of the same song. They provided the sheet music and the backing tracks. The bass part was boring so I opted to break the rules and just play the keyboard part on bass. That was enough to win. Grand prize was a custom shop Jackson bass (~$3500 -- took about a year and a half to receive), but they also hooked me up with insane seats to all the concerts for years. I had the absolute honor of hanging out with Paul O'Neill for a while, and he's the most generous person I've ever met. Tshirts, jackets, box sets of music, bottles of freakin' Dom Perignon. It was insane.

I saw yet another SBL giveaway video in my YouTube feed. It got me wondering if anybody has won anything similar. I'm sure the old cats here (most of us) remember when Bass Player would run those two-page giveaway ads "of over $20,000 worth of gear!!" The BP ones would often include a box of strings and stuff to go with the new bass and rig. It was a lot of Warwick during my reading days. Surely, somebody had to actually be winning these things.
You mean those things have real winners!?

Years ago I entered and won a contest sponsored by BBE (parent company of G&L now). I got an email with a phone number and my winning was confirmed. I got several different choices and I went with a BBE 3 way crossover with Sonic Maximizer. I still use it with my PA. Good Fortune for me.

Yes. I went to a local music store where Sandberg was doing a demonstration and talk about their manufacturing process. There were about 10 of us in the store watching and there was a drawing at the end. They pulled my ticket and handed me a 5 string Sandberg basic bass. Worth about 4 times every other bass I own. Perfectly balanced and it plays like a dream. I would never be able to pull the trigger on buying a bass like this, even their basic model. It's gorgeous and is now my go-to bass....

I won a pedal from a Premier Guitar giveaway last October. The marketing manager contacted me (legit email) for a shipping address, which I provided. 3 weeks later, no pedal, so I emailed the contact back for status. Nothing. Still haven't received it.
This thread shone light on my situation. I sent another email to the marking manager just to follow up. He replied, said he was sorry and would contact the pedal company to send me the pedal. He also sent a shirt as a apologetic gesture.
Maybe I'll get that pedal after all!

An alert hit my UPS account for a package from Indonesia. I had a few eBay orders out so I thought nothing of it. Turns out, it was the pedal I won. Yay!
