Anyone actually try the new short scale Stingray?

I pre-ordered a blue one from Sweetwater; was supposed to come the end of May, now they tell me September.
What scale length is it even on? 32"? 30"?
I'm surprised that they're pulling a Rickenbacker on these... EBMM should have the capacity to meet production targets they set for themselves...

Sweetwater isn't taking pre-orders for the September launch until later this summer. I am really tempted to do so, but it's a lot of coin for something sight unseen!
I'd imagine the same as the passive basses they already put out (Caprice and Cutlass). I expect here in Canada they'll be close to three grand.

I'm just going off what a guy at L&M told me. It's pretty steep for sure. They're not in their system yet, so maybe he's wrong. Either way, looking forward to seeing a demo.
Instruments aren't selling as much as they used to. Create demand. Small run. Rinse and repeat. They'd be sitting in a Guitar Center for months or years.
On topic, I recall reading that, for some reason, they wanted to have both a pickup and pre that were unique to the SS basses.
They probably haven't found a quantity of windings and eq plots that their 34"-attuned ears are liking enough to put out on the market.
If they did it S H on a slab body with a sweepable mid (probably concentric pot) and managed to somehow price it less than 2x the Gibson DC bass' street price, that would be a very very tough choice.

i would have been happy with the regular stingray pre.
Very true, a short scale bass needs to be voiced completely different in order to sound good, u can't just stick stuff tuned for 34" scale in there or it will sound lousy
