Anyone change their 34" neck to a 32"

What an interesting idea for a product for Warmoth or AllParts to make/carry... a Fender replacement neck with 19 frets, that has the nut where the 1st fret would have been on a standard Fender neck. If you won't miss the Eb up top, it'd be an interesting change for people with smaller hands, or who just like the tone/tension...

I have a question about this.

Can i take my Squire VM tele bass and just put a Fender Mustang 32" neck on it? It would change it to a short scale without messing anything up right?

I can handle less frets as long as it is able to tune right and the frets all work fine.

No. First of all, the neck pocket is the wrong size and shape... second of all, it's not the same distance to the bridge as it would be on a long scale Fender... lastly, a Mustang is 30", not 32", which isn't here nor there other than it needed correcting. You'd be better off looking for a SX shortscale bass methinks.

Probably more like 18 frets with an overhung fretboard giving you the 19th fret, but I agree...it's a great idea! I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

I'm thinking 19 would work. Think about it: if you took a regular neck, cut the headstock, nut, and fingerboard off at the first fret, GRAFTED a headstock on and made a nut that worked, you'd basically have a 32" neck, not unlike capo'ing at the 1st fret...
