Anyone else hate how bulky the Fender Jazz's are?

Total BS. Prove it to yourself and start a thread bashing EBMM, Lakland, Sadowsky, AC, etc, and measure the response!
btw, I think a Jazz body is just about perfect; Although, I'm a normal size fellow
Well maybe you can't bash any other brand without some backlash but it won't rise to the defense of said brand won't rise to the level of defense that Fender gets. I wouldn't start a thread bashing any brand. I might occasionally start a sarcastic Fender love thread but that's different.
I do love Fenders. Everything about every model they have ever made is perfect for me and everyone else. The sound that every Fender ever built is perfect for every kind of music in history too. It is amazing. There. Feel better?
Erm... I think there's someone missing a point. It's not defence of Fender (okay, maybe from some people) but pointing out that the opening poster was flat out wrong. Body too big? Matter of taste. Neck too wide? No, when compared to... pretty much everything!
If you want a non-Fender equivalent it's like someone saying Stingrays have too wide a neck (matter of taste) and they don't like the jazz pickup in the bridge position (eh?).

Given that this is a thread started with an inflammatory statement that has provoked an emotional response from some people, I'd say he used the term correctly.
And you're going to tell me you've never misspelled a word on an internet forum? The informal nature of internet forums practically encourages bad spelling.
But I'm irritated by how often the term "troll" is thrown around here, when it's obvious that people don't even know what it means.
That didn't appear to be the intent of the post at all. As least to me. The intent is the whole point. Also, I'd argue that saying you think a bass is too bulky is far from "inflammatory".
I don't think it was inflammatory - just head-scratchingly incorrect in part. Inflammatory would be "Fenders suck". Incorrect would be "Jazz necks are really wide".

The only way a Jazz neck could be considered too wide is if all bass necks were considered too wide.
Jazz bodies are on the large side a bit, though, I must agree.
I myself prefer the Jazz Bass neck, but do find the bodies too bulky for my frame. MHO is that the bass is a tool that we use to express ourselves. I love the fact that Leo revolutionized the bass the way he did. Our choice of instrument is personal and that should be remembered. I have a Franken Fender with a Jazz Neck, P Body, P pickup and a Humbucker smack dab against the bridge.(See my profile pic) Then again I have a Steinberger XP-2 with active EMG pickups. I have owned so many different basses from Fenders to a Travis Bean and have yet to find myself a "Fanboy" of any particular brand or model. They are just tools to be utilized for their intended purpose. People need to understand their choice is not the choice of the masses. Other than that pick up your bass and fight the good fight. Without the bass music is not complete, tell that to a guitar player then duck and run.

Yep. And I especially hate how you're paying better than $1500 for a 3 or 5 peice body that was cobbled together out of scrap bits with prominent glue lines..... and mediocre fretwork.... that's why I dig the Laklands. As far as being bulky, Sadowsky got this right in my opinion.
I'm waiting for my custom MARCO BASS. I asked very a very svelte and lightweight, modern looking J-bass. Here is the sneak peek Marco sent me last week

Unfavorably comparing the Jazz is a bit like unfavorably criticizing Campbell's soup. Or the VW Beetle among cars. Sure, there are better soups and cars and basses. But....what do you suppose is the most prolific bass guitar of all time? And do you suppose there are reasons for that?
