Anyone else having issues with USPS?

An insider! So what's up with the more recent USPS shipping rate hikes for packages that weigh over 3 pounds that are going further distances. I sell motorcycle parts on Ebay and can't believe what it costs to ship to western states these days via USPS Priority Mail vs. FedEx or UPS Ground which is markedly cheaper now. Someone at my FedEx dropoff location told me that USPS hikes rates during the holidays, is that true?
I don't work on that end. I deliver the final mile.

For the first time in many years we did not lease extra vans for Christmas, all the operating funds have gone to paying overtime is my guess. I went from an average of $70K to about $120K due to mandated overtime this year. The spare maintenance vehicles are out on the streets with the holiday help carriers. as the regular maintenance schedule has been suspended.

Meanwhile our brothers in brown are using their 2-to trucks as motherships while temporary help in their personal vehicles use the truck as a mobile station to reload. FedEx Express has a lot of old vans on the street, being franchises I haven't noticed any increase in FedEx Ground. And Amazon logistics have a lot more uniformed folks out.

Back in January there was a major panic in my district since Amazon was doing more of their own work. We were going into route adjustments as the service was preparing to eliminate more jobs. I was inspected that first week of panic in February when the toilet paper shortage hit and the panic buys of everything at the market happened. And not only was the Amazon volume was back but at Christmas levels throughout the year.

Since my station did not mandate Sunday delivery today and is just taking volunteers to supplement the Christmas help let me sign off of work issues for a while and enjoy the day for what used to be the last push. However since the advent of scanners and GPS tracking that last push has lingered onto January the last few years.

I'm not particularly dealing with THAT long of a delay in shipments from USPS but I will obviously guess they are pretty backed up all over this time of the year. Case and point, a friend sent something off to me with 2 -day express shipping (I think? something like that) that he paid extra for and the package still took almost a week to get here. They're going to be refunding a lot of customers this year if that's how they are operating. Don't get me wrong, I love the postal service and want them to thrive and stay in business but it gets extremely frustrating when you pay extra for expedited services and the delivery time is not even close to being met.
Before I go, your friend is due a refund, I understand UPS and FedEx has suspended those. 2-day occurs with express which missed the cutoff time for next day.
