Anyone else having issues with USPS?

A first class package sent to me from SC Nov 14 has been sitting in Greenville SC distribution center since Nov 16. I filed a missing mail claim, which was resolved (but they resolved someone else’s missing mail). I’ll try again in January.

Local USPS said they're about 9 days behind on packages right now.
It's the holiday rush + covid that seems to be the likely culprit.
I received two packages this week that were supposed to arrive on the 3rd and 4th.
Waiting on two more.

Patience and understanding. it's all good.

I ordered a part for my guitar. It shipped on 12/4 with a delivery date of 12/7 from PA to MA. It sat in PA for 9 days then went to OH, then IN and made it to Western MA on the 16th. It got closer to me on 18th and it’s still there. No movement yesterday. Hoping Monday.

Yep they are slammed right now, it took a week and a couple days to get a 2 day priority package of strings from California to New York state.
Plus their tracking is horrible at best.

Don't forget all the politics that have been going on at USPS this year as another possible reason.

I'm sure it will get there, eventually.

Thankfully my buyer is a really good guy & is being very patient. It's an unfortunate situation the USPS is in, being short-handed in a time when everyone is shipping gifts.

I filed a claim with USPS. Not sure if that will do anything. Maybe someone in Atlanta will notice that there's a truck/trailer that has been sitting since last week and decide to unload it... lol.

Anyone else dealing with this?

Something about a certain soon-to-be-former president slashing budgets and removing sorting machines... Xmas is rough under normal circumstances, but USPS has been bled dry in the last 8 months.

Yes!!! I've had issues recently too.
I was sending out band shirts to customers. Mostly from LA to Europe. A few domestic orders. Go figure that customers in Spain, France and Netherlands received theirs before NYC. mind you, NYC was the only priority package "guaranteed" for 2-3 day delivery. Ended up taking 15 days. Never had this problem before

Everybody is having issues, between the usual holiday Rush, and adding in that with COVID:

1. People are missing work,
2. Employers are having to take more precautions (taking temperatures, taking time to dis-infect),
3. A lot more people are buying on line.
4. Private companies can hire more people, and more vehicles, faster.

Even when that one district yes man trying to get a jump on the PMG's no overtime goal stopped overtime in the Northeast US. But still with the back ups of days for parcels and letters going into the general election. Since the election those carriers returned home to find their states were now also COVID hotspots. But seasonal help finally arrived to start working the drop shipments from Amazon so the regular carriers about 18 out of an authorized strength of 40 on any given day, could work the letter mail and parcels that come from anywhere and go anywhere. A case of toilet paper is time intensive to handle and that time came from letter delivery for some other street. So now we are going 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM and some stations are trying to mandate Sundays also for a 7 day work week. However due to the once we got you we won't let you go attitude. you only get a few days out of the temporary help when they quit.

Because the service pays less for extended overtime hours in December (no double time rates for going over 10 hours a day) we recently had a mass exodus among those COVID emergency hires who had been working before December who saw the pay cut they took with the increased workload and hours.

An insider! So what's up with the more recent USPS shipping rate hikes for packages that weigh over 3 pounds that are going further distances. I sell motorcycle parts on Ebay and can't believe what it costs to ship to western states these days via USPS Priority Mail vs. FedEx or UPS Ground which is markedly cheaper now. Someone at my FedEx dropoff location told me that USPS hikes rates during the holidays, is that true?

I have a package coming that was posted 17 November from Frankfurt Germany, sat at DHL until 24 November and just hit customs on this side of the Atlantic 4 days ago. A friend of mine who manages the downtown P.O. in Chattanooga TN told me it could be as late as February. Whaddya gonna do?

Probably due to increased traffic. I recently shipped a single space rack synth. MI to CA...$65.00!

All carriers are being impacted from Covid. I had a package shipped through FedEx which was stuck in Las Vegas for a whole week. It was actually shipped out of Chicago and destination to Los Angeles, took delivery after 2 weeks.

I'm not particularly dealing with THAT long of a delay in shipments from USPS but I will obviously guess they are pretty backed up all over this time of the year. Case and point, a friend sent something off to me with 2 -day express shipping (I think? something like that) that he paid extra for and the package still took almost a week to get here. They're going to be refunding a lot of customers this year if that's how they are operating. Don't get me wrong, I love the postal service and want them to thrive and stay in business but it gets extremely frustrating when you pay extra for expedited services and the delivery time is not even close to being met.

Yep, fellow TB'er sent me some tuners 2 day express...before Thanksgiving! The only thing tracking says is "sorry, your package won't be delivered on time." It's fine in this case, since it's not a priority. I'd rather a kid get a christmas present on time if it means mine arrives after the 1st of the year.
