Anyone else playing an All Tube Head through a Ported Cab?

Thought I'd post this for fun....

I'm enjoying an old Ampeg through my Bergantino HD410 cabs. It's lots of fun with lots of boom...but so natural sounding!

Not knocking sealed cabs at all. I'm learning Barefaced has made some deadly sealed cabs. I've yet to try a sealed Berg NV610 or NV412 but have played through an NV115. It was alright...but my ears liked the ported cabs better. I guess I'm going to have to get used to the bass control being dialed back or the bass cut switched on.

Yeah I play a 120w peavey butcher thats been modified with a lower EQ voiced tone stack , through a peavey 215D, front ported cab. Sounds great. Its on casters, which reduces the boom factor a bit.

My apartment rig is into a sealed ampeg 210av.

Cool. I've got my Bergantino cabs side by side and both on casters. Makes even more boom. I could stack them and have in the past...but I like the side by side setup!

Yup. I play a variety of tube amps through Barefaced Big Baby II's.

I have a 1970 Sunn 200S running through a fEARful 15/6. It’s a ported cab. I do use the FDeck HPF however.

I am planning a build of a reproduction of the matching cab which is a ported 215 with JBL K140 drivers.

I have three different cabs I run my 70's SVT heads through, two squareback cabs which is the usual, (1 not 2) an Ampeg PR-410HLF which is ported and sounds unbelievable but is really hard to move for one person and one or two Ampeg B-15T cabs which are ported. All three sound good, the HLF has all kinds of bottom but is not bottom heavy, very clear big sounding cabs and the B-15T's are modern ported B-15's and they also sound very good are much less efficient than the other two, I use them for smaller rooms. I also have a B-18N and a B-15S, both ported. Out of all those ported cabs, I think the PR-410HLF is the best sounding, they are not very common but worth seeking out.

Barefaced doesn't make sealed cabs. They do make cabs with a "sealed vibe". These are their cabs with their 10" drivers (One 10, Two 10, Four 10, Six 10 and Eight 10). They use what Alex Claber calls a "Hybrid Resonator".

I play through sealed and ported cabs. My Reeves 225 more or less lives on the Trace Elliot 1524. They just sent o compliment each other. Whereas the Orange loves both the OBC810 and Bergantino CN212.

I'm running an Ampeg V-4B head through an Ampeg SVT-212AV ported cab. It sounds great.

My cab is an old Sunn 2000S 2x15, which is ported.

My main amp is a Mesa D-180. I've also used an Ampeg SVT at some gigs with good results.

Yeah, I’m generally playing one of my old Traynor tube amps thru the “medium vented cab” I built per the cabinet specs for my Eminence Delta 12 LFA. These days I’ve even been using the same combo for electric guitar, and that ported cab is better suited for the Crafty tuned (i.e. tuned down to a C) P-90 LP than my normal open backed guitar cab.

However, I voted both, because I’ve played both guitar and bass plenty through sealed cabs. Just don’t have a sealed cab up and going at the moment. Hmm.... that would actually be a worthwhile project to take the extra 12” guitar driver and put it in a sealed cab that currently has no driver.

I play a Fender Studio Bass "head" through an old Peavey 215 that had the original shelf port sealed up, and each half of the cabinet ported separately. It's the best sounding rig I've cobbled together and I've been playing a long time.

I also occasionally play the head through an Ampeg 410 HLF. It's a little too boomy through that cabinet.

Fender Super Bassman or Ampeg V4B thru both ported Bassman Pro Neo 115s and sealed Bergantino NV215

both amps sound amazing thru both cabs.

SVT into an Ampeg BSE 400 from time to time. Also have a proper fridge when the situation allows.

Yep! Ampeg V-4B all tube head through two Ampeg SVT-112's which are front ported cabs.
