Anyone else use paper on their nuts?

I did something similar on an acoustic guitar where I went a bit deep in trying to lower the action.
In my case I used stained glass tape. It's a brass foil with adhesive on the backside and you can layer it if necessary.
Easy to cut to measure with an X-acto knife and it did the job for some time.
Then I used the superglue and bone dust trick and that worked better.

That's none of your damn business, and I'd thank you to stay out of my personal affairs.

On the real, I have used strips of aluminum foil under a too-low nut before. A drop or two of super glue on the bottom of the nut, a drop on the headstock side of the foil, sandwich, hold or clamp for a minute, trim excess. Works pretty well. Now that I have the tools and capability, however, I'd just get or make a new nut.

I feel I need to ask, though; what are you mixed up in that causes you to frequently find a nut too low? Do you play super light gauge strings or something?

When my nuts are too low, I use paper to get the string height right. It doesn’t look so good, but it’s free and it gets rid of buzz.

i use paper on the bridge saddle of my g-string to silence a buzz.

No more paper on my Pentabuzz nut. I took the G string off a cut it a half inch and gave it a more acute break angle with no more buzzing.

I have shimmed a nut and adjusted any high slots that resulted. I just did it on my Tobias Killer B 5 a few months ago. I crazy glued a bone shim to the bottom of the nut and sanded the to the height I needed to fix the low slots. I then addressed any high slots. Much easier than cutting a new nut and I was able to keep the OEM nut which could be important to some with vintage instruments.

i've shimmed my nuts with a sliver of walnut veneer then filed the slots a little more, but the paper thing i've only used in diagnosing the problem.
it's weird but g strings always give my nuts a problem.

No, Id never do that. Id repair as described in that Stew Mac video if its one string Im having issues with, if having issues with multiple strings Ill put a shim under the original nut (new nut is a last resort)
