Anyone Else Watching "Counterpart?"

Yep, no spoilers. But generally speaking, it's gett hard to keep track of all the threads.

I caught a couple of episodes. I like it, just don't have time to hunt it down. And I seldom have time to binge-watch.

It'd probably be a good binge watch. There's so many small details to keep in your head from week to week. I binged the first three episodes while on an elliptical machine and it kept me from getting board.

I, too, like the show, but have trouble telling the 2 worlds apart sometimes. I'm sure there is a blatant visual cue, but I haven't noticed it yet.

Here are the visual cues I use:

The other side built a modern glass building over the portal.

Our side has the old brick building and the portal is located in the underground parking garage.

Our side Howard wears drab colors and usually has a look on his face like he's hiding his confusion. Howard from the other side always wears black and has attitude.

Our side has smart phones and laptops. The other side has flip phones and old computers.

The other side has less people in public because many people died from the flu.

There are enough little anomalies between "our side" as depicted in the show and our actual reality that I wonder if we are seeing *two* alternate timelines.

Yeah, you raise a good point. I saw a few things but I don't think I fit those into the big picture. That's why I started this thread. The show is pretty deep and I'm sure I'm missing how some of the pieces fit together. I was hoping we could discuss the same way the Walking Dead TB thread does.

I think both worlds are an "alternate future". Neither one being exactly ours. Subtle differences in both, and, of course, some similarities in both to ours as well.

I'm rewatching it now, as predicted. They refer to the other side, and our side. In the closed captions, they refer to Howard, and Howard Prime, and Emily, and Emily Prime.

So as viewers, we're supposed to view the dimension with meek Howard and his comatose wife as the main dimension, right? Is that Howard "Howard" or "Howard Prime?"

I mean, would the "other side" people call their side "our side?"

So I found a Counterpoint wiki site ( Mythology ) and they refer to D1 (Dimension 1 - mild mannered Howard) and D2 (Dimension 2 - bad*** Howard).

Yes, of course, but when they have chosen to label a side on screen, in text, they have called meek Howard's side "our side", and the assertive Howard's side "the other side".

Assertive Howard, and his peers are the ones called Primes in the closed captions, which are often sponsored by the show, which has input to their content.

Edit: just read the Wikipedia article. There is a reference footnote attributed to producer Justin Marks, that residents are referred to as Primes or Alphas.
