Anyone ever change a sadowsky bridge from 19 to 18mm?

I love my metro lines but the 19mm spacing is a little tough for me on fast lines with lots of string skipping. I find myself playing my stingray more since the spacing is tighter.

Has anyone dropped from 19 to 18 mm on one of these basses? Did you have any issues with the strings lining up over the pole pieces?

Interesting there is another poster who wants 19mm because his Metroexpress comes with 18mm
Maybe you all could just swap bridges

Yes, I did it one on an older MIJ metro. It was the right move for me.

19mm spacing on a five is just not my thing.

I actually have an F bass bn5 which I love, but I came with a 19mm hipshot b style bridge so I swapped the saddles for the threaded saddles form hipshot so I could reduce the string spacing and it's taken the instrument to another level for me.

If a version of the hipshot KickAss works, why not do that. They go from 20-21 mm to 17mm. I have my 5 string Fender wider at the low strings and narrower on the high strings. My fretless 5 has a 20mm spacing. It was built that way. I reduced to 18.5 but went back to 20mm because the pickups were special orrdered from Nordstrand and they are 20mm

Funny - I did the exact same thing with my fbass. 18mm feels so much better.

I ordered my BN5 with 18mm spacing. It's so comfy for my smaller hands. I still love my 19mm spacing F basses but the 18mm feels more fluid like my Musicman US Sterling basses. Definitely going to get a 18mm BN5 as soon as possible.

There was a pretty big up charge because the pickups needed to built to accomadate the narrower string spacing. I would assume most bass pickups would not line up perfectly if you swapped out the bridge for different spacing.
