Anyone ever see Weezer live?

I did right when the Sweater Song was getting popular. They were opening for Green Day. We booed them off the stage after a few songs. The singer said something about what jerkoffs we were and we didn't deserve to hear the Sweater Song.

So yeah, I don't have quite the same impression about them as you do.

Saw em headline a small venue in Norfolk VA called the Boathouse around he same time. Of course I was 15 and it was my first real show. I had fun. Fun fact, the Boathouse was built on a pier and shutdown after it was damaged during Hurricane Isabell, September 2003. Last show played was Type-O-Negative. It is very dilapidated these days. Pics on this here FB page.

Seen them twice. One in Detroit with Foo Fighters. I was pretty far away but it was still an awesome show. Then I just saw Weezer again a couple weeks ago at Bayfest. I think River was wasted because he was acting like a socially awkward teenager seeking attention when drunk.

haven't seen them but i find it hilarious that the great josh freese is playing drums for them now. that's like hiring howard stern to be a local radio station's traffic reporter.

My brother saw them last year; he said Scott and Pat were entertaining as hell but that Rivers seemed like a downer.
rivers IS a downer, especially for the other guys in the band. that's why weezer's original bassist left, and their original second guitarist, and the guys who originally replaced them. rivers is a complete dictator who tells everyone what to play, refuses to do anyone else's songs even if they're good, has to sing every single song and play every single guitar solo, and is completely unbendable. one could argue that his singlemindedness is what made them what they are, but it doesn't seem like a fun environment to me, and the turnover rate in that band is indicative of it.

Yeah, it's difficult to pin down Weezer, some albums are pure genius. "The Blue" album is heart felt pop/rock/punk with message, that so many people can relate too and is really fun. "Pinkerton" is the same as blue but with a more of an underground flavor to it.

"Maldroit" and "Green" are just fun heavier, feel good rock songs with drug abuse and social awkwardness all mixed together.

"Make believe" and "Red" Albums were experiments. I loved "Make Believe" and the "Red" album took time to grow on me, like 2 years. However, I knew there was some solid songs in on that disk. It took to long for me to hear them. Weezer can thank my I tunes play list for playing a random "Red" songs every once in while, so it would grow on me.

"Raditude" is poo. I listened to it in my friends car. It was just terrible.
