anyone ever use corian?

I was cutting some nut blanks yesterday and thought to myself, "I wonder if I could use this as a fingerboard or something" anyone ever try it? even in a different capacity body, inlay, bridge, etc.?

That would be pretty, sweet. There is a lot of options for coloring.

As a fingerboard it might weight a ton, but would at least resist warping!!

my thoughts were that the stuff feels like rock, so it's prolly really dense

IIRC, Wishbass uses it for nuts and saddles. Might make an interesting fingerboard. How heavy is it? I assume its heavier than wood, but you never know...

No.

Ebonol is made by laminating paper and phenolic resin under pressure

Corian is an acrylic polymer mixed with Alumina Trihydrate

I guess that the acrylic and phenolic are both forms of plastic but that's where any similarity ends

I don't think that ebonal and corian feel anything like each other...

ebonal feels smooth and hard like a pool ball
and corian feels a bit more hard and "grainy" like a piece of stone...
