The War in Afghanistan most certainly is called a war. As such we are said to be at it. That's called reality.



Really? You must be going through security to do so, which is normally reserved for passengers.

No we are having a conflict with terror. You wage war on nations, and we most certainly aren't at war with Afghanistan.

And I think it has to do with beefed up security for the holidays. I just though it was odd that I needed to be checked out or patted down because I was in tight jeans and a t-shirt. Unless I had drugs in my bum, there was no way I was sneaking anything in at all.

I have to fly december 10th and 13th.

I think its blah.. I dont know what to think about it. Im a rightist, but lately dont buy into their hype, both side are full of CRAP.

They can take a good look at my balls and feel all over them if they wish. It doesn't bother me. As long as EVERYONE doesn't get them, Im fine, cause that will take too long and I have no patience.

Is it a waste of money? YES

3) If they choose to pat you down because you opted out. I would do this. 1) Do not resist, but do the following before the search. 3) remain calm and even in your response to them 3) Ask the agent if he has a warrant 4) Ask the agent for his or her name and badge number and write it down. 5) Inform them that you consider any physical search to be unconstitutional and that they are performing a nonconsensual search. 6) Inform them that any contact in sexual areas will be considered sexual assault and you will pursue recourse under the full extent of the law. 7) If you have a friend there with a cell phone or camera, have them record the episode. 8) When you arrive home immediately contact a Lawyer or perhaps a legal activist group and proceed with a law suit.

I've had several flights this week, I have another one tomorrow morning at 7am. Security lines this week and last week were quicker than I've ever seen. The opt out never happened from what I saw (not shocked). I shuffled O'Hare, Newark NJ and San Diego security in at most 10 minutes each location. Nobody looked stressed, everyone was dealing with it and not complaining and a good many were laughing about it. If you went so far as to do the above, you really wouldn't get much support imho from other frequent flys like myself. I just don't get the "I'm being molested" attitude as the people getting pat downs that I watched could have cared less. It was kind of an obvious joke like "ha ha, you got picked." I got through so quickly I sat down and watched for about 20 minutes to entertain myself. If it took 10 seconds I'd be shocked, and honestly, it really wasn't bend over and cough like it's made out to be.

I guess that my coworkers and I who average between 30-100 flights per year just have other battles to fight and see this as a big non issue. I know that I seem to be alone in this thread, but then again I think that not many in this thread fly all that much either which to me is rather ironic.

actually they are. if i don't fly 20-30x a year, i don't get paid and my band fires me. then my wife leaves me because i can't make a living any other way, and i'm out on my ass. so yeah, i'm forced to snake through the chaos unless i want to be a homeless person.

I'm going to take a wild guess that after we declare these wars/conflicts/luncheons over we will still be using these same security measures for out 'safety'.

Heck, I'm willing to bet that we'll never be at peace again for a long time. Once Iraq and Afghanistan are completely over we'll move on to North Korea and Iran, and we'll forever continue these skirmishes.

We've fight in 28 wars in 234 years... that's about a war every 8 years, and that's just counting our direct involvement.

I don't think we've ever really been "at peace." There's just pauses.
