Wether or not we're in a war is irrelevent. The current TSA tactics haven't prevented one terrorist attack. The fact of the matter is we've been at this for over ten years and not one terrorist has been captured going thru airport security. Not only is the government taking away our rights, but as usual it isn't working. This is not even an arguable point, so far all of the terrorist threats have been interrupted by passengers, not TSA agents.

The other thing is we have been d#*# lucky. Both Richard Reid and the Christmas day bomber were incompetant, had they known what they were doing the consequencies would have been tragic. We have had several domestic incidents since 9/11. In every case young radicalized Muslim males gave the authorities plenty of warning signs, that should have been dealt with. But we were too PC to investigate a Mosque or deal with a radicalized Muslim army officer who expressed his views openly. Instead we're molesting kids, and patting down elderly cripples. It is insanity. No rational thinking adult could justify this strategy.

Korea, Vietnam, etc. were "police actions" not wars.

Police action, war, no difference. Regardless of what the politicians in DC call it, when rounds are flying down range at each other for an extended period of time, that's all war in my book, It's 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

Also, ask any Vietnam, Korean, or current vet, and they too would highly disagree in the difference between a war and police actions.

Agreed.

It was just a way to avoid dealing with my basic point as usual. So for the folks who are still staring at the trees, I'll rephrase it to say that we are at conflict, as stupid as that sounds.

So you know for a fact that not one terrorist has avoided getting on a plane because of security measures?

How?


As far as us being in a war being irrelevant, you have lots of company in that mindset. No need for heightened security during wartime/conflict-time. And certainly don't inconvenience people not directly involved.

Again, the "molesting" terminology is pure drama queen and certainly doesn't help the point you're trying to make.

You can call it stupid, but its equally, if not more foolish, to call something what it is not.

Did we go to war with Somalia? No. It was a military action. Same principle now. Conservative media calls it a "war" to help justify taking away of American's rights and the flood of troops into the Middle East. And I don't say that to turn it into Dems vs Reps, or Conservatives vs Liberals. Its merely an observation. You can call it whatever you want to justify it, but I feel this (much like the Patriot Act) isn't warranted.

The TSA is overstepping its bounds and unjustly searching US citizens. Calling any of this necessary is ridiculous, especially considering they can search without due cause. I shouldn't be subject to a cavity search or a full body x-ray when I cross state lines in a car, and I shouldn't be subject to those measures when I fly. If they have probably cause, then by all means search me, but me wanting to fly to a destination isn't probably cause.

I'm flying Friday and Sunday, secure in the knowledge that all the stuff the TSA is doing is theater. Just about every journalist who has done an investigative story on bypassing airport security has succeeded. What's going on in the terminal is 90% window dressing and 10% effort to detect the most stupid and obvious offenders.

Everything they're doing in the terminal is reaction - they're never in front. They responded to the shoe bomb and underwear bomb attempts after they occurred. The inept terrorists will try something new soon, and the TSA will respond a few weeks later, finding some new way to inconvenience everyone without increasing safety.

I don't feel one bit more secure based on what's going on in the terminal - I simply know the odds are very much in my favor that nothing is going to happen on any flight I'm on. There are so many flights every day that the odds favor me.
