Well my schaller straplocks were giving me problems with coming loose again and i've decided i want to permanently mount my strap to my bass. Yes i know there are other straplocks i can use but i don't want to fiddle around with them. I know that billy sheehan does this but i don't know about anyone else. So if anyone has any tips, advice, experience, or anything i'd be happy to hear anything you guys have to say that might help me.

Anyone have experience permanently mounting straps?

There are plenty of discussions about straps, but most don't get into permanent mounting. You can always use a lag bolt or long screw with a washer over it.
Personally, I consider Schallers or anything similar to be as good as permanent.

Did this with a couple of leather big washers. Unscrew the strap buttons, one leather washer (to avoid scuffing the finish), strap, another washer, strap button. Depending on how thick they are, you might need to use a longer screw.
Just a drop of thread lock on the threads before you screw on the nut on the schallers and it will never loosen unless you taken the nut off. I have been using schallers for decades and I never have had them loosen on me. If you have the strap lock on correctly there is only one way it can fail same as any system, is the screw in to the bass failing or coming loose. Keep your schallers you be a lot happier

I use the little red washers that come off beer bottles for this (I normally buy Grolsch for this, but other beers are available). They're such a pain to take off again that they might as well be permanent!
You just put the strap on normally and then slip the washer over the top, like this (generic picture from google):

What part is coming loose? If it's the retainer nut on the strap end, the Loctite is the way to go. I have 6 basses and 2 really nice straps...do the math. It's also a PIA trying to case them up with a strap hanging off.

pull your straplock buttons and take one of your screws to Ace or some other hardware store and tell someone there you need a couple of fender washers that will fit on your screws. You can hardcore it and just put the screw through one of your washers through the strap and run it down good and snug while holding your strap in the position you want it when you have the bass strapped on. Do it on both ends of the strap and you are GTG.
If you want a little insurance, glue a small piece of leather or heavy cloth on the instrument side of your strap where the hole will be then punch the screw through this addition and run it down.
Note that by doing this you loose the pivot points you now have so the strap is now going to be a PITA to stuff into a gig bag or case.

What he is doing wrong is failing to maintain them.
For starters they need to be lubed and periodically tightened ( or apply Loc-tite).
Also you have to periodically check that your strap button is tight in your bass. You would have to do this even with a permanently mounted strap.

This seems like the best option and it's reversible.
Personally I've never found the need to use schaller locks or other similar locks. Been playing 30 years. I have used slightly longer screws. Toothpicks and a little wood glue if they ever get loose.

Yes, it is. Straps get in the way when the guitar is on the bench. It also creates a tripping hazard when entering or leaving the stage.
Unless one is performing back leaps or guitar spins a la Victor Wooten, there are more arguments against permanent mounting than for it.
