I purchased a new lakland 55-02 from an ebay seller recently, and when the bass arrived, the neck had almost no relief, and the string heights, intonation, pick-up heights, etc. were all off from the Lakland recommended guidelines per their website. Serial number indicates it was mfr'ed in 2010.
The setup process surfaced these issues:
1. the volume pot is scratchy near maximum volume (and the taper on the pot seems more linear than audio; i.e. the volume knob doesn't have any real effect until the last 20% up to max volume)
2. the neck pickup height won't adjust (screws just unscrew and pickup doesn't raise. i can unscrew the whole thing and it pops up, then screw it down to where I want it, but it's annoying)
3. the low B string cannot be properly intonated (it's 15-20 cents sharp near the 12th fret even with the saddle backed up as far as it can go in the bridge)
Has anyone else seen any of these issues on skylines/55-02's? re: intonation, I understand intonation is tricky on low B strings, esp for non-USA basses, so not sure if it's realistic to expect perfect intonation on a 55-02. (it's strung through the body with the Lakland strings it came with)
