Michael Wiley will surely be miss by friends and Family.May God rest his soul.I would just like to add that if you can find the Joyus album that Pleasure put out around '77 IMO that was some of Nathan Phillips most technical/artistic work that he had done with Pleasure.However if you are going to mention this great band I must give credit were credit is due.As hard as Nate grooved(and trust me,he Grooved his ass off !)Imo the Drummer the irrepresible Bruce Carter "Set it off'I highly recomend the self title album Pleasure(1981)listen to the track titled "law of the Raw"and you will hear exactly what I'm talking about.Also recommended listening Ronnie laws Friend and Strangers lp which Nathan is on along with another funky bassist out of the west coast area by the name of Donnie Beck.

There was also a bassist with Jeff before Danny that proably was not as Funky and Agressive as he,but nonetheless was just as tight by the name of lester McFarland he was on the real early Jeff lorber Fusion album titled 'Soft Space with Dennis Bradford on the kit"and a real smooth sax player by the name of Terry lane

I just saw Nate Phillips with the touring version of Dazz Band when they came to Honolulu a little over a year ago. He sounded as great as ever, now playing a Bossa 5 string.

The double album (on one CD) "Dust Yourself Off / Accept No substitutes" has some of his best work IMHO. It's a must have for the CD collection.

That technique is awesome! I can't do it, just tried tonight and I suck. It would be a great trick for impressing an audience though.

I've yet to hear someone actual play the drum part on "Glide" close to the original.

I had the fortune of playing with a drummer(who passed away 5 yrs ago)by the name of Mike Battle who would nail every Pleasure lick,and thensome(including "Glide")to the wall.He had the tightes pocket that you would kill for not to mention he even look and played like Bruce Carter.I think of him all the time he was truly a great person and musician.
