Did that affect the funkiness of your bass lines, Mike?I've done it before, and it is an enlightening experience to see some of the funk that comes out of your body. Then you realize that same crud has been fermenting in your body.
-Mike
i do it every year for 30 days during the muslim month of Ramadhan.
+1No no no no no! Definately do NOT do that!
When you skip meals, your body thinks food is hard to come by and it will store the meals you do eat as fat.
If you're going to fast, you have to do it abruptly, so your body can't adjust to it. Basically a temporary thing. I don't advocate fasting at all.
I was saying that if you are going to change your lifestyle, you need to do it gradually.
You might want to see a real doctor if you have digestive problems. I don't know what kind of ulcers you have, but many of them are now treatable. Cheech and Chong ain't got nothing on antibiotics.

My opinion is do not fast.
Oh, and if you go on a fast for some time, your body doesn't start metabolizing fat, it goes into a catabolic state and metabolizes muscle.
So, no, don't. Just eat better. Fasting is a bad idea. Drink lots and lots of water and eat plenty of fiber if you're really into the idea of "fasting" to flush your system, but unless it's for some religious reason, just don't. It's not healthy. It's not good for your body.
I agree with everything in this post except for the juice thing. A glass or two of juice a day is very good for you and can provide you with much needed nutrients.Jesus Christ +1!!! I can't believe so many people advocate fasting. If you want to be healthy eat a diet of lean meats and dark and colorful veggies; pair it with exercise and you'll really feel healthy. Not a pain induced euphoria you feel while body eats at the glucose living in your protein (ie. muscles, liver, brain!). If you want your body to eat itself, by all means, fast.
If you want your body to build itself provided with all the materials you need, take a multi-vitamin and fish oil for Omega-3 fatty acids (another thing your body eats in a fast). If you want to speed up the process, drink a Whey protein shake after you work out. Its pure low-calorie fast-absorbing protein that your body is calling out for after exercise, especially lifting.
Carbs. There's lots of talk about them in media. Simple carbs spike your insulin levels and tell your body to store glucose, instead of use it. This means carbs tell your body to store fat. Take it for what you will, just don't think a bread diet will make you thin.
Soy causes estrogen growth. Be wary of vegetarian foods (if you're a man I mean). There are products that will kill estrogen in the body, but thats getting into the more hardcore stuff.
Eat 6 smaller meals a day. It'll fire up your metabolism like never before.
If you're looking for some catabolic exercise, do cardio. It'll burn you bodies stores either way, but if you want anabolic cardio I'd recommend High Intensity Interval Training, basically (sprint, walk, sprint, walk, repeat, repeat).
Also, juice is s*it. It a glass of sugar with the fiber taken out. Stick to water.
