Anyone know anything about the brand Pan?

Many thanks to user jbybj for sending me some vintage tuner to replace the broken one. It got swapped out tonight. While I've got the strings off and waiting for the new bridge to come in, Im going to do some cleaning. I may disassemble each of the tuners and give them a quick once over and add a drop or two of dry bicycle chain lube to keep them smooth.

The fretboard is pretty disgusting - I don't think the strings had been changed in many, many years - they were caked with gunk (therefore so is the FB). What's your favorite method of cleaning the fretboard? I usually give mine a quick rub of baby oil a couple of times a year, but this needs much more than that.

I have a Pan bolt neck/ply body SG guitar with 2 humbuckers.

It actually sounds nice but I am having problems with the pickup selector.

Curious what your pickups measure on your SG bass?

On my Pan SG guitar the humbucker pickups are very low resistance (like around 3k) but are quiet.

I had been using this guitar for open E slide duty until the selector acted up..... it stays in tune and intonates fine and has a really clear clean tone.

I would expect the pickups in that red bass above to be single coil. They are an identical style to those that came on my first electric guitar; a 1974 Pan black SG with one single coil pickup.

There are many threads/opinions about proper cleaning of a fretboard. Alembic says, (so it must be true) that the best thing for an unfinished Ebony board is pure, unadulterated, Lemon oil, the kind you get at a health food store. Lemon oil might cut the grime a little better than baby oil. I have been cleaning all my unfinished (read as, Not Maple) boards with Lemon oil for years. Gets the gunk off with a microfiber towel, conditions Ebony and Rosewood quite nicely, and leaves your bass smelling Lemon fresh. Use sparingly, and if it's real dirty, it will require lots of elbow grease and maybe repeated applications.

There are many threads/opinions about proper cleaning of a fretboard.

Tell me about it. It's like asking what's the best chain lube on bikeforum.net. I just use mineral oil since all of my fretboards are rosewood and that appears to be the common denominator among all the various opinions.

I ended up getting medieval on it's ass with a credit card and a microfiber cloth.
