Korina is variable. It came into its own in 1958 when Gibson made the Flying V and the Explorer (and by legend, a Moderne) out of korina. Black korina, same wood, same tree, just with all the dark streaks, which was not popular with all the "blonde" movement of the late 50's, which included furniture and architecture, became popular some years ago. It is a mahogany alternative, with the resonance being more in the mid-mids than Honduran mahogany's low-mids.
