Hello !

Mike Browne is an ex Carl Thompson workshop employee , is it right ? After leaving Carl's workshop he began to make basses for his own Brand called Mike Browne Designs . There is a web site but seems that it's abandoned. So :

1) Does he still make basses ?
2) If not, where is he ?

Thanks

I don't keep in contact with him but I did have a bass commissioned to be made by him in 2009. Unfortunately, he refunded my deposit and said he simply couldn't make it profitable at the rate he was going.

I ended up buying the used pink ivory and maple Gnome Browne but I agree with the sentiment that he made some of the most amazing basses! I really wish he would return to building.

I have one !

Which one is yours? Mike didn't make many...
It would be cool if everyone who has a Browne posted pics in this thread, or maybe start a "Browne appreciation Club".
I'd love to know who ownes Mike's 32" fretless gnome (cocobolo top).
I was a fool for not buying it when I had the chance.
I also had a chance to buy his 32" AG bass from the original owner (TB'er Charles Farley). Quite a few years have passed by since then and I still have wet dreams about those two basses...:atoz:

I picked up this one up on a trade from Brian a couple months ago and it is the ****, fantastic craftmanship all around, plays and sounds incredible. I don't anticipate this going anywhere for a long time. But I have said that before.:D
