Anyone know what happened to Bass Hanger?

Took my Ampeg SVT & 810 our for a show for a change of pace, and remembered some players using these years ago. Website says they're coming back, just curious if anyone ever used these or knows if they're still available somewhere?

Cool, thanks for the links! Not quite what I was looking for but definitely some great options (and a chance for me to go shopping at Home Depot to DIY one of those String Swings myself).

BTW, if your cab has side mounted handles, the MarkBass keeper works like a champ. Another bonus: the cab doesn't have to be 8x10 or 6x10 height—just tall enough for the handle to clear the instrument's body.

I like to put a piece of padding on the floor under my instrument's endpin when using a keeper in place of a stand. Padding + keeper = way more secure than even a Hercules stand. The bass is far less dufus-exposed than it would be on a stage stand. And given the velcro's strength, unless someone tackles your cab with enough force to knock it over, the bass isn't going to fall.

The weight and size are essentially negligible. I just bought the MB version, but if you DIY by stitching velcro strips together, the cost would also be negligible.

You mean that plastic hanger that slides under the carrying strap of the amp? I still have mine but rarely use it since my amp isn't tall enough. I always thought they were a cool device!

That's a cool alternative, thanks for the suggestion! I definitely like how easy that think would be to load anywhere in a gigbag for transport.

I know! I had gigs with acts that used guitar boats or guitar racks and didn't jump on these when I should have.

The bracket was attached with rack screws, and the hanger arm dropped into the bracket. Not sure if those are still available commercially, although it'd be easy enough to fabricate a one-off.

It is made by Wallacher. It's only about $10. The mounting bracket has two holes that are exactly one rackspace apart, so it mounts just over the rack ears, and under the rack screws. It swings out and swivels when in use.

Got a Bass Hanger years ago and use it to this day. Love it and it fits in most Bass cases. When I see them again , I will buy another one.

^^^That actually happened to a bandmate of mine way back in the 1970s. We had a gig playing for some kids summer camp, and a couple idiots rough-housing after our last set carried their shenanigans up onto the stage where one of them attempted to do a flying take-down of the other kid ...who stepped aside at the last moment, so that idiot #1 instead flew into my bandmate's enormous Danelectro 3x15" speaker cabinet, which toppled over, crushing his guitar that was leaning against it and causing his amp head to explode into several pieces after bouncing across the floor.

It was simultaneously horrifying and hysterical.

Best part was, the camp paid for a new guitar and a new amp head, so my buddy was able to make a significant upgrade to his equipment at no cost.
