Anyone like black Basses with maple necks?

Symptoms sounds like...GAS!!!

Could be... but I did address a case of near term stay-at-home GAS about a month ago by grabbing a Sandberg Electra that was on sale. Wonderful bang-for-the-buck Jazz copy that's nearly two pounds lighter than my old Jazz.

I'd have to classify my Black-with-Maple affinity as more of <gasp> a pre-existing condition :wideyed: ...most of us probably have one or two of these lurking on our "permanent records", right?

Hells yea, I love black/maple, especially with black matte pickguards.

Edit to add this short story ;

Acquired this Squier Vintage Modified Cabronita bass off CL a year or two ago. The guy was only asking $120 for it. It was a "closet queen" bought by a guitarist who thought he wanted to try bass. As soon as I touched it and despite the crappy original issue roundwounds on it, I knew I had to have it. Setup was pretty much dead on and the neck just felt "right". I handed him his $120 asking price without even trying to bargain. After I got it home I threw a set of Precision flats on it and plugged it in. I was underwhelmed. The original "fideli-tron" pickup was rather lackluster and I couldn't get the e-string to balance with the rest. Not to be discouraged, I did some research and bought a TV Jones Thunderblade (neck) pickup and put it in. It cost more than the bass but WELL worth it. It now sounds as nice as it plays and is my current favorite to just pick up and play...and I have a few choices. Sometimes you find a diamond down there in the (CL) muck...
