I don't like active pickups, but I love passive pickups with an active preamp!
This is my 2nd & main bass. 9v HAZ pre w/EMG DCs. I play mostly rock ... it's got a lovely growl to it

Im unfamiliar with this type of setup as well. The preamp is onboard/internal on the bass and adjusted via an additional knob?
Where does it fall inbetween passive and active as far as tone goes?
