Hey TB! Local Craigslist has a crazy price on what they believe is a 60’s/70’s p bass. Need some better more knowledgeable eyes on this. Here are some photos.

Anyone recognize this P-Bass year?

The headstock appears to be late 60's early 70's, but that "relic" looks totally fake to me. If the seller is not disclosing a refinish and relic job I would question everything else. I'm guessing it's a parts bass, might play great, but a parts bass.
Complete utter fake. Just about everything is wrong....
Looks like the truss rod adjustment is at the headstock. It wasn’t there in the late 60’s or early 70’s.
Thanks all. Yeah he’s already changed up the ad saying late 70’s 80’s. He did disclose someone sanded it and it looks really bad. He’s only asking 650 and says it was an estate sale score. He’s communicative and doesn’t really give a shady vibe I think he just doesn’t need this bass or know anything about them he plays drums. He’s not asking for anything up front or anything, I might go check it out could be a great beater bass to fool with. The neck looks like a nice thick slab of rosewood no? I’d think the headstock would at least be identifiable unless all that oxidization is fake? I honestly don’t know how far people will go to make a few hundred dollars but this doesn’t smell like that to me. 
Well that's definitly not a late 70' early 80's logo and as another poster mentioned, truss adjustment is wrong.
General consensus that’s it’s just a total fake with a waterslide type logo?

the truss rod looks like MIM or squier, nothing is right here
I always look at the wear. If it’s got significant paint loss in a place you physically are unable to touch while playing, maintaining, or transporting, you know it’s fake. And worse, you know it’s been faked by someone who doesn’t know how a bass is played.
It’s total crap and the person listing is a great big liar (not mistaken or misinformed but lying). A decent price would be about $50.00. $650 means it’s not worth even thinking about again aside from this guy is maybe going to scam someone who should know better. Yes, there are people who commit fraud for $600. This guy is one of them.
The headstock should have the serial number just under the Fender logo.
And I think the neck plate should have the "F".

2020s Parts (of unknown origin) Bass w/fake logo.
Fake Logo - the scale of the font is wrong, and I am unaware of any US Fender that would have the "TV" Logo with the truss rod adj at the headstock.
Based on the placement of the bridge cover - the bridge position is off - too close to the edge.
Buy a nice new Squier Classic Vibe Precision for less $.
You'll know what you're getting and they're nice basses.

you know all these posts on TB where someone says “my Squier is better than any fender and I’m keeping it forever so I customized it and put a fender logo on it because it’s just for me and def not because I’m insecure about owning cheap gear and I’ll never sell it!”? This is what happens to those basses 6 months later.
Anyone insecure enough to feel the need to put a more expensive brand name name on their gear is also the type to try to pass off the fake. Flame me, but this is my observation.
and before someone points out that I’m a huge Squier proponent, yes I am, and both of my Squiers will always say Squier on the headstock. No shame in a cheapo bass when it sounds like this.

What ya got there is a run of the mill standard grade piece of s**t, polished with extra buffing to make it look pretty. All that’s missing is a tonewood description of how bad it smells and the all important orange drop flushing tonal capacitor.

The tuner backs look like maybe they’re regular MIM tuners that have been bathed in a corrosive to age them.
The knobs have dome tops, not flat tops. Do they have a set screw holding them in place, or do they just pull off?
The finish is an obvious home relic job with sandpaper on a poly finish, that ain’t nitro, and it ain’t natural wear. Hopefully nobody would put artificial wear on any American Fender made before 1983, but at best that’s what happened. I’m certain that isn’t what happened though.
If you’re lucky, it’s a sadly abused Squier, but I’m sure it’s not even that. Only way I’d buy it at all is for the pickguard and the chrome bridge cover, at used aftermarket parts pricing. So like $20?
