I own a small 15w Behringer amp and feel pretty comfortable with it as long as i don`t put the lows too high because it gets a bit too muddy for my taste. I`ve seen descriptions on the big behringer amps the BXL I believe, which have graphic equalizers, distorsion channel and many other interesting stuff. Does anybody here own one of these series? I`m falling in love with the brand but I`d like to hear opinions from fellow bass players who have owned/played one of these before going crazy

Anyone`s Opinion on Behringer Amps?

i had one as a practice amp for a year. only played it at low volumes and it just died on my randomly...i'll never buy one again.
Many people here hate them. Some say you either get a lemon or a good one.
I had a BX3000T that lasted for 4 years before I sold it. I never had a single problem although I'm really careful with gear when transporting and never pushed it to the limit. I played once a week in my church with it and it was fine.

IMO I would look elsewhere, I tried some Behringer products and was not impressed at all, attractive price but that was it. I also heard many here on TB say they are not that reliable. If your on a budget and want to upgrade, I would look at Carvin, Peavey, Hartke, GK
Affordable gear is often pushed to the limit
Affordable gear shouldn´t be useless junk, there are enough examples of solid as a rock gear that can be bought on a budget.
Behringer = Crap

I have used a Behringer BX4500 as my gigging amp for more than a year and it has been flawless. Lots of power, very dependable, never any problems or noise. The 4500 has received a lot of positive comments from those who own them.
I also used a BX4500 for a while. Never took it out to gigs, but I never had any problems with it while playing in the practice room with the band I've been in.
I played a house show with a little Behringer combo a while back (I think it was a BX1800) and it performed just great for that situation. I really dug the tilt-back design.
I own three Behringer EuroPower power amps and they work just fine, two of them I purchased used, one purchased new.
I would say give it a try. If it doesn't work out, you can always sell it here on Talkbass!

I have a small practice amp (BX600) I got about 5 years ago. Use it almost daily and never had a problem, I think it sounds damn good too.
I have mine for a few years and run/ran it hard. I never had a problem with it. It now serves as my back up since going to a Power/ pre set up.
See what I did there? I expressed my opinion without resorting to petty namecalling and insults.
+1. Behringer sounds good only if you've never owned better. Plus, as others have said, they are notorious for reliability issues.
I'd (personally) never give Behringer a dime.
I use a BX4500 for practice with a single 1X15 Son of Bertha cab. It doesn't sound very good to my ear at higher volume, but it is an 8-ohm speaker. It's OK for practice in a small room, but I wouldn't even consider gigging it.
I use a Europower 2500 as the mains power amp in my PA, and it sounds pretty good. Not as much power as you might think with 500 watts a channel at 8 ohms, but sounds decent and loud enough with my Peavey SP5G's.

I had the 4500 and 4x10 when it was all I could afford. 1 speaker blew and got it replaced no problem. The head started giving a really loud buzzing noise after about a year, turns out it was a manufacturing flaw on some of the heads. It was out of warranty so I found the solution online and fixed it myself.
They're ok if you get 1 that doesn't break... but as stated above, once you play through something better you realize what crap they are..

I wouldn't touch them for bass, but I would have to say that the Behringer Europower EP 2500 power amp we have in our P.A. rack seems every bit as sweet, powerful and reliable as the QSCs which are in there. And that is coming from someone who never ever thought he would say anything positive about Behringer!
