Anyone stuck in the midwestern blizzard?

The weather is certainly unpredictable in Iowa. I can remember going out to beg for candy on Halloween while there was snow falling. I remember many times having a "brown Christmas" where snow hadn't yet fallen. This is about the time of year that we'd get a bit of a warm weather after a snowy Christmas and New Year. I had a series of texts from my family and it looks like everyone is safe and warm at home, if perhaps a bit bored because events have been cancelled.

Landed in Chicago yesterday mid-afternoon. Nowhere near as much snow and ice there as I feared, was able to brush and scrape the car just fine. By the time we got back to the Fox Valley, there was a hell of a lot more snow, but things were plowed pretty well, and a neighbor had brought his snow blower over to do enough for us to be able to get into the driveway. I owe him a six-pack or two ...

The last time I measured the depth of snow in my yard, it was 18 inches, and it snowed for another five or more hours after that so it may be approaching 24 inches. The current temperature outside, (without considering wind chill) is negative 13 degrees F. (The thermometer in my bedroom showed 39.8 degrees F this morning).:woot:

-3F this morning when I got up with a bit of snow on the ground here in extreme south/central Missouri.

No school today due to MLK Day but even if it wasn't a holiday, not sure they'd be having school...the jury is still out if schools will be open for a few days after today. Most of the schools around here aren't very well insulated and the heating systems struggle to keep the heat at 68-70° when it's subzero.

The temps are supposed to moderate mid to late week and supposedly, this weekend will be mid 40s to low 50s.
