Just another day in buffalo. Wait they cancelled the game! It’s getting real lol
I’m quite happy we got out of the Midwest a couple of years ago. I never want to see snow again! I dealt with it enough as a kid in NYC and my younger years in St. Louis.
That being said, we almost got nailed by that storm that hit Panama City Beach the other day…

I hear ya. I'm 76 and it's getting to be annoying, that's for sure. I do love the other seasons tho... if I didn't own my house and regularly play with some truly amazing musicians I would consider Asheville or Virginia. But no way I'm going to relocate at this stage of the game tho.
I paid the "neighbor" (half a mile away) to bring a tractor with a bucket and do both of my driveways. Where I live, there is no such thing as "down the street"
Large bldg farthest south is the parrot rescue, group just north of it is the house, garage, and wife',s studio.

You better be kidding. We don't have municipal snowplows, either, down here. If my area gets heavy snowfall, we have to rely on Good Samaritans with FWD vehicles for emergency assistance.
The one on the left is Josie and the one on the right is Riley.
This was taken Tuesday when the temps weren’t that bad. It’s around -30F now windchill. Josie hasn’t peed in like 9 hours because she asks to go outside and then gets stuck in snow drifts looking for bunnies. Riley is like yeah nope and just pees on the driveway.

67 years old here...back when I lived in northern NH, North Conway was a sleepy little town...then the tourists discovered it
. There were ways around the main drag for a while but then those were discovered too. I did my best to stay away from North Conway and the surrounding towns as much as possible but there were some stores there that carried stuff that was unobtainium anywhere else, International Mountain Equipment for one. Just before I moved here REI opened a store there but it is nothing like the REI stores out west. Unfortunately, I think REI, at least in the northeast, is becoming more and more like EMS ,basically an outdoor fashion store. I did a lot of backpacking and climbing in NH since I was 10-12 years old and stopped about 4 years ago after I ended up with 3 slipped discs and a cracked L-3 vertebrae after a nasty fall. Kind of tough to carry a 30-40 pound pack with that going on.

Have you caught what happens to the stores when there is a prediction for snow of any amount whatsoever?
Stores get ransacked for milk, eggs, bread, batteries and beer like people are preparing for disaster and french toast or something. Its a wild scene.
Always interesting for us, North of you, to see how « a bit of snow » is paralyzing the U.S. cities…

Here, nothing since middle of December… then a cocktail of snow/rain/freezing rain since last Sunday…
Fortunately, temps are ok, 0 Celsius today. No fun however in some provinces (Saskatchewan) where they had some minus 50 (-58 F).
12-15 inches more expected soon. Today, we had to get our two cars out of stucked ice in the street (no driveway, we park in the street). I am not a sports guy but weirdly, I enjoy snow plowing and « balancing » (some pushing the car and driver riding the gaz pedal) the car to get out of the chaos. « Traction-aids » helps a bit!

The thing I don't understand is why do they buy stuff that goes bad in a few days (well, except for beer and maybe eggs)? I guess stuff that needs to be refrigerated could be left outside but at temps below 32° it'll most likely freeze.

Been living here since ‘97, visiting since ‘87. I guided rock and ice for the climbing school IMCS for years and still climb some. Town has changed a lot. Too many outlets. Finally a decent music store tho.
Back in my more wilder and crazier days, I did some rock climbing on Artist's Bluff and Cannon Mt but those days are WAY long over. When I lived in Cali, I was rock climbing at Joshua Tree and fell...my left arm got twisted in the rope and when the belayer caught me, it dislocated and tore up my shoulder pretty bad so my climbing days were pretty much over at that point.
What is the new music store and where is it? There was literally nothing anywhere around me when I was living in Twin...after I left the north country, a pretty nice (but small) store opened in Littleton, Northern Lights Music. We had to drive to Ted Hebert's in Manchvegas to get anything at all, or to Boston for more of a wider selection. Ted's did mostly school band stuff back then.
In the 90s and early 2000s I worked at Daddy's Junky Music (long gone) as an amp tech...I did that for about 17 years...I also did some work for The Vintage Fret Shop in Ashland. I don't even know if they're open any longer. I know the owner Dave was considering selling it and retiring.
