Crazy that the worry was so much in rain turning to snow and ice, yet no one really expected the intense wind to actually dry off the roads before the temp drastically dropped
50 degrees here in central North Carolina. We're supposed to get highs in the 30s next week, those will be the coldest days in the past 12 months. But I lived in Chicago for nearly 20 years, so I sympathize with you folks. As always, wear layers, take breaks when shoveling, avoid driving if you can--and if you live in Chicago and rely on street parking, don't forget to save your spot.

We were supposed to get "4-6 inches" on Sunday night; we got more like 12"-15". It was on the edge of what my Polaris Ranger can handle with the 60" plow blade, but I was able to get our drive and several neighbors' cleaned up Monday. However, the wind hasn't stopped and temps have been in the single digits and teens, so the powdery snow has blown back into the cleared roads. I spent another 1.5hr yesterday re-plowing, but it's still blowing. The deepest drifts are waste deep right now.
There's absolutely no way I'd trade it for city life.

Not "stuck' anymore, thanks to an enterprising young man down the street who's been offering his snow-blowing services for a reasonable price.
I'm not stuck,....but,.... getting ready to make a 1 1/2 hour drive to a gig with my new band. Due to circumstances happening,... 
... we've had zero rehearsals, have a sub drummer I've never met,... and the female vocalist just texted that she's caught the crud,... so vocal duties will have to be spread around a bit more than usual. This is a fairly high profile casino gig, so to say I'm a bit nervous about it would be an understatement. The weather here is around 20F and will be around 0F when we load out. Wind chill in the minus 20's. I'm dubbing this gig,... "The beautiful Disaster Tour' Wish me luck!

My parents, still alive, now live in Arlington, SD...I keep telling them that they jumped from the frying pan into the fire.
NH was getting too expensive and crowded for them. They have a picture of my mom who was 5' then standing in a hole that my dad dug in the snow from that storm and all you could see was the tops of her shoulders and her head. Three foot snow falls weren't that unusual in that area of NH.
Wow if NH was too crowded for them, they definitely like their solitude. Good choice w/ SD lol
