This is an old post but as I noticed nobody really answered the OP, I am pushing this up again. Does anyone have experience with the PJ cab 47 after all these years?

Double Bass Anyone tried the Phil Jones CAB-47?

I just got a PJ cab47 to use with my double bass in a big band and other small group jam sessions…
I just got it last week as a replacement for a TC Electronic K-212 which was a left over from my bass guitar rig. The cab 47 sounds light years better than the TC for double bass. It is smaller and more portable but still have some weight which makes it feel very solid. I have it paired with a older EA iamp350 and a realist copperhead. When playing at home it amplifies the bass very well and doesn’t get boomy at all. Its a 8ohm 300w but I dont think I will need more volume for doublebass gigs. A second one would be nice for bigger electric bass gigs. I havent compared to a PJ C4 but I’m happy with it!!

Zombie thread revival, but I did just pick up a Phil Jones 2x7 today and got to try it out at a gig. I’m using my AI Clarus SL-2 with it and I was
just using a KNA pickup with it. Man was it a nice sound. Very clear and defined sound and with the HPF on the Clarus on, I was able to get a solid sound in a loud hipster college bar with wood floors and paneling throughout. It was able to handle my low B string very well without loosing any pitch definition. Next gig I have I want to try either my Ischell contact mic, or blend the KNA and Ischell to see how the Phil Jones handles a mic. To put it simply, I like it!

About a month update in with the Phil Jones and I really dig it! It’s definitely the ideal size and volume for most working situations. I was playing a jam that wound up having 6 horn players playing at the same time (madness dare I say) but I didn’t feel like I was being drowned out by them.
I did try blending my KNA and Ischell together through my Clarus and I think I finally achieved as close to MBOL as I may ever get. The Phil Jones 2x7 was more than up for the task and could get everything from my low B to my upper register coming through crystal clear with no problems both pizz and arco. It also was able to translate the airiness and raspy quality of gut strings well. So overall I’m happy! I’d love to find a second 2x7 at some point for those occasional loud gigs.
