Double Bass anyone tried these strings?

i have seen these gut strings made by a company called Clef Musical Manufacturing on ebay for $160. i have looked on lemur and i can get a set of ther gut strings for $200- $250. has anyone tried them or heard of them? i'm going to put them on an old bass that i have that the strings on it have just worn out. i have never tried gut strings before and just thought that i would give it a shot. any thoughts?

Search the archives, there's been lots of talk about the clefs. I haven't tried them myself.

If you haven't tried gut, I'd suggest getting a used pair first before plunking down a lot of money for them. If you get into them, I highly recommend Dlugoleckis. They're very expensive, but they are a world apart from Efrano, Clef, Labellas, etc. Especially for arco.
