anyone using Delta 10's?

I got an Edenxlt, found a rat nest in it, and delta 10's .

At first I thought they were blown, they looked creased and sounded horrible. Turned out to just be a corroded crossover/input. Not creased either, just a watermark.

I don't like them, not sure if they aren't a good match for the cab (according to bass box pro they are ok in it) or if that is just how deltas sound, or if they are getting old or what. No bottom end, all midrange.

I was going to do the modge podge trick, but I think I'll just put them on ebay instead and get the correct eden drivers.

I would like to hear other experiences, positive or negative, and what cab you are using them in.

Standard Deltas don't run real deep, though they are/were a very common platform for many OEM bass speakers. They have good midrange and detail, and you can put them in a ported cab, tune a peak in it in the upperbass, and sound like a bass.

Check the wiring. They could be out of polarity.

I've owned a pair of Delta 10's for one day , I think that says it all.

Depends entirely on the application and specific tonal goals. They are a very good driver for some designs and not so good for others. You have to know what you are doing to make the determination.

By tuning a peak, do you mean with an equalizer? I guess I'll dig up the old rack eq., should help if I understand what you mean

I was hoping you were right, wiring was what was initially wrong, it had a corroded input/crossover panel. Both internal fuses were blown and it was just oxidation letting the signal thru. I thought they were blown.

Before i fixdd that it had a very weak Strange sound, like an octave pedal is how I would describe it, very narrow frequency s were coming thru.


I wired them in series straight to the input (there is a fuse) (8ohm drivers) and took the horn out of the loop.

I think delta 10's on their own are not ideal for bass. At least not in a 210 cab. Well, at least not in an Eden Xlt cabinet, perhaps a different design could make them work, but I have no idea what to change. Maybe more internal volume I'll try some fill, or maybe my amp doesn't "fit" the application. Idk.

Luckily a member has an extra pair of the correct drivers he is going to sell me.

AgedHorse, thanks for all the help, and the "tough love", I have learned a lot. I probably would have tried to improve these a few weeks ago, rendering them worthless for resale.

Now I will be able to put them on ebay, and get proper eden drivers.

For other people that may have found this thread in a search, what driver would be a good alternative to Eden Xlt 10 speakers? (Stock xlt drivers are described as , mid bump, punchy, deep, spl101,200-300w)

I don't think eden will sell the drivers, they will recone but if you got screwed like me and don't have the iron....
