I played through one of these and it sounded awesome. I would like to find one of the older ones with the single chanel amp in it. If anyone has one of these at a decent price let me know. Is it really loud enough though? I thought that it sounded great with good clarity and bottom.

Double Bass Anyone using the Acoustic Image Contra COmbo?

It's a series II Contra Combo. I have the two channel series III. Killer amp. Serious power for small to medium venues. With an extension cab, it can do larger venues.

Unfortunately, that Series II Contra has an asking price that is only about 20% less than what you could get a brand new Series III Coda with a totally new design and much greater power. If you don't want to spend that much, keep looking. There have been a bunch of Series I and Series II Contras on eBay and other sites. Since the release of the Series III models, the prices for the older models have dropped considerably from what they were prior to the new models being released.

Bob, I'm really thinking about trying the Corus out. I have had bad experiences with the downfiring combos in the past, but I would love to give these guys the benefit of the doubt and buy a recent revision. I wish somebody would pop up who has had experience with the Corus version.

If you didn't like the down firing in the earlier series of Contra or Coda amps, I seriously doubt if you will like the Series III either. While the Series III products have a lot more power, it is still the same "sound". Since the Corus is made and is being sold as a guitar amp rather than as a bass amp, I would think that the chances of you liking it are even more remote.
Maybe this was implied, but check the "For Sale" forums here on TB too. I sold my Series I Contra and Contra EX extension cab on the "For Sale: Amps & Accessories" DB forum not too long ago.
