Anyone using The Lemmy Kilmister strap?

This is a celebrity novelty item. I'm sure it's well made, but the people who are considering buying this are going to buy it because of the Lemmy connection, not because it's a functional item. $165 is a lot of cake, but if you want it, go for it.

Not a fan of Lemmy as a musician myself , but Heavy Leather NYC makes awesome straps, very high quality & well made.
I had a Camouflage leather strap made by them, and it is comfortable, soft, and superbly made.

If you like that design; go for it; I'm certain you will be happy!

Think that's expensive? Take a look at Geezer's straps. I happen to like these better, because I LOVE Geezer Butler, but would still balk at spending over 200 bones for either one.

That's very nice, but way out of my price range.
I was actually kinda kidding around (-:; sorry.
I'm a strap fanatic; very particular about what I use- I have some awesome custom straps in the $2-300 range, but $3,000 ??
A little bit high, but maybe not for a rockstar!

Anything connected to a celebrity is going to cost more because of that.
...And the irony is that I bet many of the celebrity players like Buddy Guy, keith Richards, etc. are GIVEN straps!

I happen to be a strap freak. I like my straps to be 3" wide; padded, and most importantly, 43" keyhole-keyhole.
That's lead me to look into some Custom strap makers, and there are some folks doing really nice work.
For a GOOD custom-made leather strap, you can expect to pay at least $100; more for designed or detailed straps.

Here's an example of a strap I had made (I love to show them off!) by Double-J Saddlery; they know how to work w/ leathers, the horses insist!

Nothing wrong with a $50 levy's or a $10 poly strap; as long as it doesn't break!

And to the OP- Heavy leather has some nice stuff.

RIGHT!!!!??? That is insane. But Im sure there are plenty in the world who will buy them. I will not be one of them. Unless I win the lottery or something. Im sure they are very well made indeed. But dang.

It's the same option as between a $$$$ custom boutique bass, or a good, solid, well-made "stock" instrument in the $500-1500 range.
Many feel that a standard production build is all they need or want, and they are right.
Others...Will pay & wait for a Custom build. They're also right!

For the grade of leather used, for the detail & workmanship, the Geezer strap is not outlandish priced IMO. It's not my style either, but that's neither here nor there.

I can list a dozen strap makers whose works are extraordinary and beautiful, and whose pricing can range from $150 or so up to...lots more.
There is a cost involved with their craft in making a good product by hand, just as with instruments.

Hi Guys,
This is Rachael from Heavy Leather NYC. The reason my straps are so expensive is because I use high quality leather and hand craft the straps in my studio- not in a factory, not in China. They are guaranteed to last and are comfortable! The reason celebrities wear them is a testament to the quality of the strap, they survive wear and tear. Celebrities are thrown free gear all the time but only use the best of it. Please feel free to ask any questions, my email is [email protected]. Thanks and good luck with whatever you choose.
