Anyway to get Keyboard sound without keys?

Yep I fancy it, prob no room on my board and they say it won't track the low E.

I don't have the skills to be doing cool runs higher up the fretboard, but I'm sure one of you cool guys out there can do it and show us the capabilities

Thanks again everyone! Problem is we only have one Rythm guitarist latley. We are looking for a lead -actually we are looking for a bass player and drummer as well since i sing and play bass and being that i am alright at bass and pretty good at singing together it is a bit "messy". Hopefully we can fill all positions soon. I still have not had time to sit down and research some of these posts. Someone mentioned timing and i could see how that could get crazy if you are using a backing track, seems as though it could come in a bit early or late. That kazoo idea was kind of interesting. Sometimes i like a simple alternative. :)

I checked out most all the links this Saturday, really interesting stuff. That Organ guitar box Dimarco posted up there was pretty amazing. However pretty expensive at $299 and as stated we dont have another guitarist. So the kazoo won out. Actually sounded ok and got a laugh from the guys when i told them ahead of time that i had a brilliant piece of technology. :)

I play keys, virtual instruments and bass in the studio but just bass live. When we record i have them make me a cut of the album with all the main tracks muted (vocals, drums, bass, main guitar) then I take what's left mainly keys, sound effect samples, and some simple guitar layering (I won't sample solos for example) and use it to make samples on the digitech jamman stereo. On my pedalboard the jamman is not in my bass signal chain at all. The sampling chain is just the jamman into a mono radial pro DI which goes to the PA. All the sound is coming from what's saved on the jamman. The jammans auto record feature makes loading samples a breeze. I mostly load samples sitting on the couch with just my phone connected to the aux in on the jamman. On stage I sometimes have two or three samples per song. Like a guitar harmony over the chorus, keys during the bridge an audio clip from a comedy or horror movie. It's fun and it saves us money because we can cover more instrumentation with less people , we don't have to have another guitar player or keyboard player we have to split money with. The jamman stereo allows switching samples with your feet without having to buy the separate footswitch. All I literally do with my feet is hot up or down to select the loop and hit play. if it is a long repetitive part sometimes I do make it loop as opposed to setting it to one shot which just plays The sample once. I do also have to mention that the band has to listen for it and play in time with it so it's good to have decent monitors and bandmates that really listen for other things than just what they are playing. If we ever switch to in ears since the jamman stereo is well stereo I may expand this setup to be able to run the samples on one side and a click on the other.

In one of my bands, one of our guitarists has a Roland synthesizer board that adds tremendous versatility to the band. He does a lot of rhythm and lead guitar, but it's really cool when he drops some B3 into a Clapton slow blues or a sax solo into a Billy Joel song. Of course you have to find someone with the commensurate talent.
