Apogee Jam vs. iRig - anyone tried both?

It doesn't sound poor with a bass, one can achieve very decent results with it.
The iRig is sensitive for gain structure, this one have to set up the input/ output gain correctly for every bass plugged in. That said, it will optimal to use the docking port for in/ out signal and even better using an external DAC. The DAC on the iPad/ iPod/ iPhone is not the best, even the Airport Express have better DAC. Actually the DAC on the Airport is very decent.

This interface sound very promising!
I've been reading about the GuitarJack before, and it is quite interesting that it could function as a mobile DAC/ headphone amp.

I like my Guitar Jack 2 a lot.

I use it mainly with JamUp Pro for both guitar and bass. Also with the GK bass amp app.

It's nice and quiet and seems to have good fidelity.

The only quibbles I have is that there's no way to use multiple dock devices at the same time, which is certainly not unique to the Guitar Jack.

Also, the dock plug, with or without the cable extender can be a bit fiddly unless I tape it down.

The 1/4" input and 1/8" stereo output are a bit close together.

I had to carve some plastic off the 1/8" <> 1/4" adapter I use in order for it to not plug in at an angle.

Very minor negatives, IMO.

Overall the construction seems to be very solid ( Hooray - metal case ) and it hasn't caused me any major trouble.

It's a bit pricey, but I don't mind spending for quality.

I've been using the Peavey Ampkit and the GK app. Works fine. I prefer that the docking port be available for an external battery.

Sorry late to this thread....

How do either the Agogee and the iRig stack up against Griffin's GuitarConnect Pro?

I'm looking for a recording solution for bass to iPad using GarageBand. I was thinking about Griffin's Studio Connect, but I don't see myself using the iPad anything more other than recording using a 1/4 cable from my bass.

Any other suggestions?

Was about to start a question, glad I found this thread...great info.
Somewhat of a noob when it comes to this, so forgive me if the answer is obvious. Looking also as to which would be a great interface not only for the ipad/iphone but would also work with a MBP running Logic and Guitar Rig 5. Haven't made a move on anything yet, but would like to get something of quality that can be used for MBP and iPad. Can I get one of these connectors to use with both, or might I need to get something else if I were to connect with something like Alesis IO/2 USB interface?

I'm still planning on getting the Apogee, but with some tweaking (and don't forget the mastering effects in Amplitube) I've got a great bass sound out of Irig.

It took some time (and lots of patience!!) but using Irig into an iPhone 4S, using Amplitube and the Ampeg B15R model, I've got a bass sound that can hold its own (through a PA, of course) with my amp.

Also, play around with the envelope filter. It's not as useless as everyone says, just doesn't make a good wah effect. Use it as a shelving EQ/ HPF and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Yes, I remember you a while ago not that happy about Amplitube while I "insisted" that the sound is good! :)

sorry to resurrect this thread.

I just got the Apogee Jam on my lunch break. I'm going to give it go after I get off work. Is another amp app necessary like Amplitude, Ampkit, etc. to get a Richard Bona/Tal Wilkenfield tone?

I'm playing through a Sadowsky Metro 4...
