Double Bass Appalachian Fiddle Tunes

OK, I know this isn't bluegrass, but it certainly isn't rockabilly or jazz either...

My neighbor recently loaned me the book "Appalachian Fiddle" by Miles Krassen. I tried out a couple of tunes (two octaves below what is written) and realized that this is the book I've been looking for. The tunes are easy enough for me to play, and interesting enough to keep me learning new ones. i found a copy on Amazon, and own it now.

I tried out a couple of these tunes with my 'Gospel' trio, & they're very interested in developing arrangements.

I was just curious if others out there have adapted fiddle tunes to double bass.

Cello, not DB, but I had regular gigs, playing eclectic set lists in duo format, and played fiddle-based tunes. Duets with fiddle, mandolin, dobro etc. My duo partner wrote really nice fiddle tunes too including some he nicely voiced for cello. Imo, Ashoken Farewell (well used in the Ken Burns Civil War pbs series) by Jay Unger would sound great on solo DB. Have fun!

A lady in my group plays banjo, mandolin, autoharp, etc. and has been looking for motivation to learn more cello. We're already talking about trading leads between DB & cello.
