Looks like it's $150 with education discount.

That's freaking nuts.

Logic Studio is $449 with student discount and Logic Express is $179. I'm thinking you might have an even larger discount due to a special relationship with Apple, but your $150 price probably relates to Logic Express.

Nope, the 150 is for Studio (they're selling Express V8 for $70,) but I found something else out regarding the price: there's an education DISCOUNT on the full license ($450) OR there's the actual academic LICENSE, which is what that $150 is. If you get the academic license, you're not eligible for any of the upgrade deals in the future.

I ordered my upgrade a couple of days ago!

Now I just have to find 40 GB of free space to hold all the extras... That is just insane.

...and what is even more insane is that the program will not let you put the extras on another drive besides your start-up disk. I believe I was able to install one portion of it elsewhere, but not much flexibility here.

not that long ago i found a full PT HD3 rig with the Control 24 desk and a Mac G4 completly upgraded. all of this in road cases. if you look around you might be able to find something like this for pretty cheap.

Don't you think that a brand new Macpro octo-processor 8x3ghz would have almost the same Horse Power than a 533mhz G4 with a HD3 card?

I think that now , with the power available in the CPU world , there is no need for Axel card anymore. Native is now as powerfull as PTHD.
(and you can choose the hardware you want)

I noticed that... I installed a new 500GB disk, and pretty much all the data had to go on my old startup disk anyway. Seems kind of unnecessary, but oh well.
