I haven't been paid to be on stage in almost 10 years. I haven't played in front of others in over seven years. Hell, I sold my 1 of 16 Spector four years ago, and am forever retired. I keep a cheap bass and amp for me and me alone.
But I went down a rabbit-hole waiting for a meeting with a team on the other side of the planet:
George Michael, Freedom '90. I remember it because I was REALLY young when it came out, and there were a lot of supermodels...
However, after watching again after 30 years, with collegiate classical training in the symphony, and paying my crappy bar band dues, city after, city after......city, again.
What a phenominally FANTASTIC bass part.
It reminds me of why I started playing bass in the first part.
I actually, AGAIN, started weighing the joy of performing vs. the late hours conflicting with my very fufilling day job...
Forget anything you have to say to agree or disagree with anything I just said!
That is what music is SUPPOSED to make us feel. Yes, it was a pop song from 1989, but the bassline is a master-class.

I have a stack of records that continue to inspire me.

I always say that music is my drug of choice whether listening, learning or playing it brings the most and consistent pleasure. Don't give up playing the bass, you can always come back to it as there is always a need for us grooving foundation movers.

I thought I was retired from playing due to health reasons but after a lot of work I am back to playing some rewarding gigs again and it feels great.
