arachnophobia...

Interesting........I'm terrified of snakes. I find them interesting and beautiful, but I don't like 'em too close - especially all the venomous varieties in my area! It would seem that spider people are scared of snakes and snake people are scared of spiders.....(at least on TB)

Should we start a spiders vs snakes poll thread?

I usually do NOT care for spiders...I just let them roam the yard, or if there inside the house, I'll just reposition them to the yard :)
I know they will go right back in...sigh...but, I'm pretty passive towards spiders.

What I can't stand the sight of....and I'm really thinking I have a problem, a serious clinical, medical, pshycological, pathological problem is with the roaches! Not weed roaches....Cockroaches! I LOATHE THEM! I can't see them...I can't step on them....It's serious...really. And the fact that they'll survive anything, even without there freakin' heads off makes me queezy and nauseous.

So please....No roach pics....weed roach pics are fine...just not the insect variety :(

Sorry had to.

Im not too bothered by snakes, my father and I have had a few. I wasnt fond of handling the 9ft red tailed boa, more because it was big and heavy than anything else.

Peoples' pet snakes don't bother me at all. It's when I'm working outside and almost step on a copperhead that I do a 4-foot vertical jump and yell something incoherent that sounds like "mutha****** snake!!!"

Of course that reaction precedes me actually trying to identify it. I came up on a really big ribbon snake once and tossed my channel locks straight up in the air as I jumped backward from it. Then I looked at it and totally felt like a girl... :o

Roaches are the worst. I know people that had been infested with them and they would crawl on the dudes bed and he would just flick them off.. BLEH!

I had to exterminate one time (NOT part of the job description... quit that job after I got my first check). The floor was moving all around me. Instead of using those gallon size jugs and spraying the place, we popped the tops off of them and just poured it all over the house. I think we went through around 8 or 10 gallons of that stuff. Never again.

As for stepping on them... NOPE! They are evolved and too smart for that! I hear they carry their eggs on the back, so if you step on the roach, the eggs can get on your shoe and can be transported somewhere else.

Sorry had to.

I was working with an electrician on this one repair job (we subbed part of the job to him since the weird voltage-drop problem was over my head) on which he had brought his young helper with him. The power went to the pool equipment and eventually led out to a boathouse where there was a breaker box right at ankle level. While I was working on tracing the power, I opened that box before they got there, and saw a HUGE wolf spider splayed across the breakers like a big furry hand..... and I just gently shut the door back. This was going to be great if they needed to test that box!

Sure enough, Rodney (the electrician) and I are discussing the the problems I'd observed and we all go to the boathouse to check the box out there. So I keep talking to Rod and he just casually tells his helper to open up that box and check the voltage and then...

...The most blood curdling bitchscream I've ever heard!!! I think he hit his head on something when he flailed backward because there was a "thunk" sound too!

What did Rod and I do? Laughed so hard we almost cried!

Poor guy!

Oh God cockroaches are EVERYWHERE out here...EW...Their legs moving when they're upside down omg EW...

F*king disgusting...I once found a 4" long cockroach at work on its back trying to get on its feet. I actually ran into the bathroom to vomit.

Cockroaches are just reincarnated lawyers. :D

I love spiders. Even got a tattoo of one on my arm.

They're fascinating creatures. I'd love a pet tarantula but the wife says no - only if she can get a parrot. I HATE parrots. No way.

So we got pet rats instead... Best move ever, they are wonderful pets :)
