arachnophobia...

This thread made me lol... I had an ex girlfriend who had arachnophobia and it was just bizarre to me. There was this one time when we saw a spider crawling on the wall in her room and we lost it and she literally couldn't sleep until I moved the desk and found it after 2 hrs of looking. :-/

10 years ago I was in Nepal to see those lovely Himalayas. As we approached the mountains the villages became more and more dusty and poor. The last one before we entered the real mountains had only one little guest room where we could sleep. The roof was made of straw and the walls were made out of durt and cowdung I suppose. All very dark with no light. When time came to go asleep, and we simply HAD to sleep 'cause we climbed up and down all day and were worn out, we crawled through the small door and onto the wooden beds with their dusty matresses. I have no liking for spiders and I knew Nepal has some exotic ones. With my flashlight I scanned the walls, but my eyes were so tired that I couldn't really focus. I saw what appeared to be a dead spider right above the door, it seemed to have been hit because it seemed flat. I looked around some more and saw more of them on the walls. In my mind they were all dead spiders, beaten dead by some previous guy. But then the one above the door moved its leggs. That creeped me out!!!!!!!! They were all allive and well!!! My god! It was already dark outside and putting up the tent in the dark between the banana trees didn't seem the better option. So I closed my sleeping bagg so that there would be no more opening where they would get through. My tiredness made me fall asleep, but in any other situation I would probably have left. Right now there are so many huge spiders at home, especially in the garage. There's an old piece of furniture, a closet, and on top sits and lives Goliath!! A big spider with huge leggs and fast as hell! I'll throw things at it from time to time, but will never try to catch it!!

I do not mind spiders. But I do have a few rules.
1) Spider must not be on me.
2) Spider does not touch me, I do not touch it.
- I try not to kill most bugs and the such in the house. They maybe invading my territory, but they are only enjoying the comfort of my house as well. It is almost like a compliment. I rather catch it and release it in a bottle or cup. If it dies in the process, oh well, I tried.
3) Mosquitos and parasites must die.
4) Do NOT mess with my bed. Although I try and release the bugs (usually a flying one of a sort) that are on my bed, I will release the Kraken on them.

This is me too.

So this morning, I'm getting ready to take my kid to school. I pick up a hat, plop it on and what feels like liquid or something is tickling my hair...like there's a few drops of water trickling down or something. I take off the hat, brush it off and.. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!! It's a friggen garden spider!!! Big one too!! It plops right down at my feet.
No, I didnt take pics because I was too busy screaming like a 10 year old girl while running in place, slapping my head..

So you think that's it, right? Nooooo of course not. We're getting ready to walk out the door, I reach for his backpack....ANOTHER damn spider is sitting right on top of the strap, different kind this time, but still way too big!! I HATE EM!!!!!

I threw his backpack out the door then like stomped on the sumbiotch freak alien spider 30 times!! :bawl::bawl::bawl::bawl:

make it go away!!!!

Oh and BTW, the first bastage that posts a close u pic of a spider in this thread.. I will find you...I will hunt you down and never stop like the terminator!!! Just dont!

I would've pissed my pants. Literally. Pissed my pants. I hate spiders. I don't care if they're daddy longlegs.

Im with you. Spiders creep me the **** out. If I find one on me I generally freak out the way Relic described, swatting at the area and trying to make sure there are no more on me.
About two weeks ago I held a friends pet tarantula for the first time, and it wasnt so bad, but it was certainly relieving when he took it from me and put it back in its cage. To think, I may have needed to smash that thing if it tried anything funny...

I held a friend's tarantula about a month ago, and I still reacted in the 10 year old girl scream. She also has a emperor scorpion, but she couldn't convince me to hold that brute.

I'm not sure how she sleeps at night with a tarantula and scorpion 10 feet or less from her.

A friend of mine recounted a story of a work colleague who kept a tarantula, unfortunately it passed away. Rather than give the thing a proper burial, he took it into work and placed it amoungst another colleagues work to be addressed, it obviously scared the living daylights out of him. I like a prank and a bit of a laugh but that's stretching it a bit in my book for sure, naughty naughty :)

A local department store near me was selling edible dried tarantula...

This is going to sound odd given my original post, but tarantula's dont bother me too much. They're actually kinda neat.
What scares the living hell out of me are the ones with the bulbous bodies and spindly legs, they just look so.....alien... there's just something about their freaky construction that gives me the heebie jeebies

Ant Lion says don't be a girl. Just get out your crowbar and have at it.

This is the common British Garden Spider, they tend to be very slow and laid back, a 'whassssssup bro I'm chillin' here' kind of Arachnid

I've got one of those roughly two feet from my head. It's pretty.

I've got a couple of these in my back yard.

They don't bother me, and I don't kill them.

Please step on the whole lot of them...:bawl:
