Are Avatar cabs actually good?

--I tried searching for an answer, but couldn't find a good one, so instead of searching more for 2 hours, I decided to post my own topic... sue me.--

When I woke up this morning, the image of an Avatar 212 popped into my head, and after reading through their site, I have to wonder, are these cabs popular around TB only because they're really cheap? They seem to be well made and are nice looking cabs, but what do you Avatar users think about the sound? Would it be more worth it to save longer and splurge for a more expensive cab?

BTW, if I were to buy one in the future, I'd probably buy a LMII with it... if that adds anything to the topic.

If you are looking for great sound, quality, lightweight, best bang for your buck, great customer service, then you will like Avatar. I suggest, spend a few extra dollars and go for Tolex , or even better, LineX.

I wish I would of went with Avatars a LONG time ago!!
They sound wonderful, CAN take power, lighter than most cabs, built well, and Yes, do have GREAT customer support.
They take my Fender Pro 300T like a prostitute takes a Pimp's beating.

You will be glad you went with them!

2 amatuer bass players I am acquainted with sold the ampeg and GK gear, respectively, and "upgraded" to Avatar 410 and 212's.

Neither of them are familiar with The GAS-Trap known as Talkbass.

If you care to read specs, Bgavin measured the feq response of a 410 neo. His impression was "pretty nice box" from what I recall, and frnakly he doesnt dole out praise all that easily so far as I have read.

My epxeriecne with avatar was positive.

IMO and a little IME you can buy way more expensive gear and more expensive gear that arent as good, and you can spend the money and buy something that is superior.

I was looking for a new cab for my church. I asked people on here and on another forum and everyone pointed me to Avatar, so I went ahead and got one. I played through it the day it arrived. I was blown away. I couldn't believe the tone I got for something I paid less than $300 for brand new (on ebay when Dave would put some on there to move them). I loved it so much that I went ahead and bought one for myself. I have yet to have any problem with either one of them. They both sound great and the low B comes through loud and clear.

Well, thats exactly my question. I am debating an Avatar 410 Neo vs an Bergantino AE 410 Neo.

I know the Bergie is going to sound better, but is it worth more than double the cost for a large-venue cabinet?? I already have an Aguilar GS-210 and a SWR 2x10, powered by either an LMII, a GK700RBII or the SWR Super Redhead.

Been sitting on the fence for a long time about which 410 to buy since they don't naturally coexist in a retail store to A/B. Any input would be welcome.

Sorry to derail this thread.
